So I want to buy a fisheye lens for filming skiing but not as my primary lens. I currently shoot on a t3i with tokina 11-16 and a glidecam. I wanted the fisheye to mix up my shots from the normal followcams. I would only be using maybe 2-3 shots from a fisheye in each edit. Nothing to much. I personally think the old Vx1000 shots are kind of stupid, buuuuuut when mixed in with some glidecam and dslr footy it can look kinda ok. It gives a nice new feel to the shots. Obviously I am not gonna get a Vx1000 but I found this little fisheye converter that seems to make a 18-55 kit lens into a shot that looks almost as cool for like 25 bucks, pretty crazy. check it out.
The worst thing you can possibly do with gear is cheap out on stuff, especially when the thing you're cheaping out on is only $200 or less used. And IMO having cuts between standard shots and shots with a heavy vig is nasty.
Next time you come up to sunapee I can let you borrow one I have for the day if youre interested. They aren't that special though. save up for a rokinon.
Ya, go for it, won't really hurt for $25, plus you have the 11-16 already so it would be kind of pointless to drop $$$ on the 8mm, I shot this edit almost almost all through one of those converters, just at different zooms on the kit and I thought it turned out kind of nice:
