So this ad has been causing a little shake up in Canadian Parliament. It all has to do with Trans-Canada Corp. want to build a massive pipeline from Alberta to Texas while going through privately owned land and sensitive ecology preservation areas. As Obama and Kerry delay decisions, Harper called the project a "no brainer" for the American politicians and sent in conservative politician after politician to rush the project. The sent Tony Clement (made a fool of himself in a speech), John Baird (he was told to calm down by Kerry), Harper (he threatened relations problems if the project is not passed). Harper even went to the EU trade board to fight a motion deeming oil sands as a hazardous material.
Harper's Conservatives cut the environment assessment funding and removing it from most projects, destroyed documents needed by Environment Canada and Health Canada, made speech after speech how the oil sands are eco-friendly after scientists were muzzled through budget strips and "scientist spokespersons".
Now, Harper sent this to be aired in the states. Already, Canadian do no really support the pipeline. There is a lot of skepticism of job creation, environmental impact and true benefits. Everything in this ad is a lie and Conservatives hope you are too.
