Any Single Malt Scotch fans on here?

What do you like? A nice peaty Islay? Or a more mild HIghland?

Reckon the 18 and older malts are worth the money? Or do you stick with the cheapest?

Straight up? Little water? 1 ice cube? How do you drink it.


Me? Well I refuse to drink blended scotch Johnny and Chivas suck and only drink the Islays on occasion. Highland Park 12 and Glenlivet 15 are my go to's. Sadly they discountinued Highland 15 which was my fav. Try to never spend over 60 bucks on a bottle.


I like to drink it in a small glass with 1 or 2 ice cubes and drink it somewhat quickly before too much ice melts.



I never drink the cheap shit either I'll drink bourbon or cognac instead if Im feeling cheap.

Dreaming of scotch. Fuck Ohio and their need for tax dollars and banning alcohol shipments to private citizens. Scotch is cheapest to buy from the internet from whiskyexchange or mastersofmalt usually but can't ship to Ohio so I gotta ship to a buddy in NY. Shipping is outrageous but if you buy a few bottles you could save a fuck ton on costs. In other words, our "expensive" scotch here can be upwards of 30-40% cheaper in the UK.

I love scotch, but find a true scotch that doesnt cost a fortune isnt easy.
Glenfiddich 12 years is good, but the 15 is amazing.

I grab scotch at costco. It's pretty good and it's pretty cheap.

I go for Jamison Black Label if I buy wiskey.

Honestly if you're yoloing black velvet is like 12 bucks ate rite aid and really not bad. Also costco has decent scotch as cheap as 18 a handle and bulleit bourbon is like 34 a handle which is also super cheap.

Actually drinking some velvet right now. Idk, it's really not bad, sue me.

Anyone got any suggestions? Whisky exchange is shipping to Ohio again!!! But AG is fighting to stop this so it probably won't last.

Oh wow thanks Trump. Just learned there's a 25% tariff on EU and UK goods, of which includes scotch. Part of Trumps trade war. Guess it's easy to bypass that tax too when smuggling it in on private planes. Dick. Hopefully they end this tariff when he's gone.

just took a quick peek and not seeing that the prices look that great compared to what we get here especially considering there must be shipping and a tax you say?
Oregon just has one inventory so you can request any bottle in state for pickup at your local store and the price is the same even if you are in some tiny rural town or in middle of a resort

If you buy one bottle yeah shipping sucks. The key is to buy a few, and avoid bottles that come in heavy wood boxes. Best example I can give is talisker 18- costs $180 in stores here before tax. It's $85usd there and even with shipping is insanely cheaper than buying in store. Glenmorangie signet, $170 there, $240 here. They also have an enormous selection of scotch whisky, much more than liquor stores here and the prices are cheaper for a lot of the higher end stuff. They also have lots of samples of scotch that would be good to try first before dropping a few hundred on. It's good to check prices though cuz I've noted that Highland park 18 is actually cheaper here if you factor in shipping. Hit or miss but generally you'll save money without the 25% tariff. Even with the tariffs and shipping this time, I still saved about $30 per bottle.

The tariffs might have resulted in scotch prices increasing across the board since no company is immune. I haven't been tracking prices but I'm pretty sure talisker 18 didn't used to be $180.

Glenfiddich distillery is not far from my house. Took a tour of it a few years back when I was visiting Scotland but I have yet to go see them since I have moved here. Great stuff for sure!
