My Mom Just Texted Me Saying I'm Adopted

I'm 19 and in class right now and my mom is at work and she just sent me a text "I haven't been 100% honest with you. You're adopted"
Not sure if she's trolling me hard or if I really am

Im not trolling. This text came out of no where. Who would joke about being adopted? Thats fucked up.

My mom is usually always serious so I dont think she would be the kind of person to joke around like this.

She was at work today and she never uses her phone anyways, but she works with a bunch of old ladies, I dont think any of them would think that this would be an awesome prank

Fuck. Plot twist. I was born in August of 1994. There is a bunch of photos from 94, but none between February and August and I couldnt find any pics of me in the hospital, only ones from when I'm out.

I'm calling bullshit, and here's why:
Someone kind enough to adopt a baby probably wouldn't be so cold-hearted as to tell them of their adoption over a text.
Your screenshot proves nothing. I could put any name in the name field of a text conversation and make it look like they texted, when in reality I texted myself.
This sounds like a plot to a cheesy lifetime movie
       -I get a text saying I'm adopted
       -My mom is a super serious type
       -Oh, I've been acting up and lying
       -My mom and the Dean are close, and I've been lying about talking to the Dean
       -NO PICTURES FOR A  SELECT FEW MONTHS!!!!!

Theres nothing wrong with being adopted. But if your biological parents are complete scumbags and lowlifes you probably don't want to know them or who they are since it'll probably fuck up your self esteem and make you tihnk your genetically predisposed to becoming like them. I think you'd be better off just thinking the middle class people who raised you were your parents.

not even going to really argue with you,

but i happen to know my biological mom. I talk to her and see her once every year or so along with my half brother. We both understand that when i was born she wasn't ready to raise me. It would have probably ruined both of our lives. She did what was best for both her and me in giving me up for adoption, and now i see her as an aunt-ish figure. She is also now an executive at CNN in Atlanta.

Glad it worked out. No joking aside.

I think giving birth to a kid and then putting them with a good foster family is a good thing to do for a young person who got preggo accidentaly.


Im glad you know her and get along. My point was only under the assumption that the biological parents were total fuckups and creeps. If that was the case I wouldn't want to meet mine.


I also unfortunately have a tiny bit of experience in this area professionally. From working with disabled people who were born with fetal alcohol syndrome its a condition that goes un-diagnosed most of the time. Why? Because a kid can't be diagnosed with it unless the actual birth mom admits to drinking during pregnancy. So there are a lot of people out there born disabled with parents who do not admit to what they did.

Fuck guys. We got into this really heated argument over my grades and stuff and then we were yelling and it got really bad and she screamed "well at least I dont have to care anymore since I'm not your real mom"

Fuck. I wont forget the look she had after she said that. I grabbed my keys and left and drove around. I'm on mobile in a WalMart parking lot right now
