Cat operator, the beginning salary is pretty terrible but if you get good enough you can get a job at deer valley and make the big bucks ~$55k a year

Dont understand the neg karma on this. I am pretty much doing the same thing.
I am going to college for network security and plan to move out west after I get my BA.
There are plenty of jobs and they all pay well, its just about your motivation and dedication yo.

Put a few years in, and reap the benefits of those few years for the rest of your skiing days!

im sure theyre tons of different ways to do it. i am becoming a geological engineer and potentially working as an avalanche consultant (so many days on snow each year and you know your shit), or just gonna do a few years of fieldwork in the mountains (doing geo mapping), or just work elsewhere and take a shitload of time off each year

ski patrol.

ski all day and sometimes do crazy shit. with the money you make pay rent and bills and some to stash for trips. ski gear is part of your work so the mountain (well, mine does) takes care of all repair and maintenance and sometimes free swag or stuff at price. shred all day. find a mountain that has year round skiing and what more would you need? idk if all that values at 50k/yr but in my mind, i dont need anything else.

I'm a software consultant (Elegant way of saying developer for multiple large clients). Make my own hours, could ski 7 days a week if I wanted to (or my body could take it).

Know a lot of other developers that do the same. Get a CS degree (or learn online) and get really good at what you do. Once people can trust you to get the job done, it doesn't matter when or where you work.

Does anybody know how long an electrician apprenticeship takes? And If I would get to ski during the apprenticeship or not?

There are plenty of jobs in the ski industry that pay that much.  As a Lift Mechanic after a few years you could make that much.
