DrailFuck Shambhala is awesome. Last year they sold a few too many tickets and the stages were always full for any big names, so this year they expanded the Fractal and Pagoda dance floors, and sold less tickets. Pretty much the only big scale rave I can think of that isn't corporate and is all about the vibes.
If you care about electronic music at all, YOU NEED TO COME HERE! I know I have a bias opinion because it's pretty much in my backyard, but shit man. Gets better every year. Only big room mainstage (aka - bullshit mainstream garbage) set I heard all weekend was Kygo - besides that it was all different genre's of bass music that killed it.
More mind blowingly good sets than you can shake a K'd out raver at. Jazzy Jeff was a let down for me, but some folk I talked to liked it enough. Mix Master Mike killed it, Griz killed it, after hating on his DJ skills Pretty Lights put me in his place and won set of the weekend in my books (I was only supposed to be there for 20min before going to AC Slater and next thing you know 1.5 hours had gone by and he made everyone his bitch). Tipper needs to get over himself, and people really need to stop doing GHB - it's not a party drug. Can't wait till next year!!!!!

Big_Spencefuuuucccckkkk this is the third year in a row just about every friend i know has gone to Sham and i've missed it. next year is my year though....so stoked to get those international travel privileges back! haha
PL definitely is a surprise favorite, you'd be hard pressed to find me there with a lineup as stacked as this was but he definitely knows how to pick tracks to fit the crowd. did you happen to catch Bleep Bloop or G Jones? so many of my friends raving about those sets. also how can you bash on Tipper?!
and GHB just gets an awful rep because people are abusing the shit out of it in the entirely wrong context. (plus the whole date-rape thing) when used intelligently after a night of heavy partying it's the perfect way to easy your way back in to normalcy. not to mention you sleep like a gawd damn ROCK which can be pretty clutch if you're sleeping in a poorly set up tent at a music festival...
DrailYeah I checked out G Jones and Bleep Bloop. It was Thursday night though they only have two stages open and they are way too busy so I listened from afar. I'm getting too old to squeeze my way into a crowd that, once you're in there have no room to dance. Combine that with it being night 1 of 4 and I had no interest in going hard in any way.
Tipper did two sets at two different stages, both stages have some of the best sound systems in the world, but Tipper almost demanded them to get a completely different system (at Shambhala's cost) for his sets. The Grove already had to rent a projector that cost something ridiculous like $5000 for a 1 hour set - and for him to almost force them to get and set up a completely different sound system just for his set(s). I don't care who the fuck you are, that kind of shit doesn't fly.
And I don't think you can say "intelligently" and GHB in the same sentence. I kinda get what you are saying, I have used K to help me calm down and get into sleeping mode sometimes while going really hard, but GHB is even more finicky than K and can become very very dangerous when mixed with alcohol. I've seen G take down my most seasoned of drug using friends.

foodisfunwow I should've bought magnaball tix when I had the chance. now possibly looking for 2 tix for around 300 or less each
louie.miragsDamn.. Good luck man! I would have never thought they would sell out. What number did they stop at do you know? I am escpecially surprised since this happened at one time:
The Summer Jam at Watkins Glen was a 1973 rock festival which once received the Guinness Book of World Records entry for "Largest audience at a pop festival." An estimated 600,000 rock fans came to the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway outside of Watkins Glen, New York on July 28, 1973, to see the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead and The Band perform.
I would have guessed there would have been a huggeeeeee capacity there
theabortionatorIf you get there people are getting in with cash.
I should be there now but my fucking stickers got delayed
theabortionatorTipper and kanye should tour together

louie.miragsprobably late on this since by now I am sure you made a decision or figured something out but I just read this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/phish/comments/3hqkhv/there_are_tickets_available_at_the_gate/
foodisfunanother day trying to decide if I should go to an event solo. anyone gonna be there? I'd be at the water stage all day but I know shpongle is a pretty big name
theabortionatorIf you want to go somewhere, just go. You will meet people there.
Boom, do it
foodisfunso NBD the Phish Mexico run just happens to also be in playa del carmen during the closing weekend of BPM festival.
days of partying on the beach with some of the best dj's straight into 3 days of Phish on the beach is what (my) dreams are made of
Chubz.for those of you who have seen rjd2 live...how is he?
I've known about him for ages thanks to NS and he's coming to a local music fest next weekend. I'm pumped to see him, just wanna know a little bit about how his sets are. Also amped to see jimkata again. Gonna jaammmm out when their set comes up.
-benedettoWow. That sounds awesome.
louie.miragsThe more amazing the weekend, the worse work is the first morning back.
I rather be Catskill Chillin'
-benedettoStill in a daze from Chill. What an awesome weekend...
killabeesthat morning turkauz set :D
foodisfunlet's keep this thread alive with fall tours...
only things on my radar right now are Iration October 27th and then I might try and get to Dead & Company one night either at MSG or down in DC.
riddsicleAnyone going to string cheese at MSG next weekend?
louie.miragsI entered into the contest for the free Dead and Co tix at MSG. They are giving away 10k tickets since they added a free show after selling out the other shows. So many people probably entered but giving away 5k pairs seems like an actual chance at getting tix.
On me and benedetto's radar for shows is the moe. in Port Chester on 11/13 and dopapod in Woodstock at the Bearsville Theatre on 11/14. We're going to at least one of those shows if not both. I really want to check out the Bearsville Theatre because it used to be an old barn and it looks awesome..
So many shows going on for New Years it is hard to choose. moe. in Albany is a solid choice but I am waiting to see if any other bands announce any events.
