So after doing some thinking about the judging at X games it got me thinking about the progression of the sport and now the style that the judges are rewarding.
So i just quickly drew up a graph. Progression is on the X axis and style on the Y axis. The current state of freeskiing is represented by the first square and the future of freeskiing being the second square. Ok so with freeskiing reaching a peak in progression and the quad is still a far way away and triples becoming more and more common, the judges have started to reward more stylish and innovative tricks over common standard comp tricks. So with reference to the graph above as you can see the progression of the sport has had a rapid incline over the past years, but as the progression has reached its "peak" the judges need to find new ways to distinguish competitors runs, thus comes the slow incline of progression and a fast shift of style.
Please note:this is only a theory to what freeskiing will become and has no real factual evidence behind it apart from watching the x games and to what i have seen
