Ive become pretty comfortable on rails, can do front and back 2's off and switchups. But when it comes to jumps, im not comfortable at all. I can do some grabs but when I get a lot of air, i just feel helpless. And then when I land I just feel this huge shockwave and can hardly ever ride away with afterbang. I can do a very sloppy 3 but only on small jumps. How do people get good at aerials? or more comfortable with them
Just keep jumping and hucking your meat off of everything you can find. Jumps are much more straightforward than rails are. Just get your speed and drop.
It could depend on where you're from. Like where I ski, they don't make a decent size jump until like February. And when they do finally make like a 30ft jump, the landing is usually sketchy and not as steep as I'd like it. The jump takes up your whole run too.
Getting good at jumps just takes trying different things, and some dedication
Can someone help me? I stink at jumps, whenever I 3, I always land backseat... I try to pop "knees over toes", but my boots don't flex enough. Full tilts time?
You usually suck at stuff you don't practice. I'm not good at all on jumps, but that's because I'm always on the rails that are right beside them. Even if I'm limited on jumps I always enjoy a well built jump, but the jumps at my home resort are built by dumbass, they're either big and not fun or small and icy.
Just practice on a tramp and when you take off from a jump, imagine you are in the air on a tramp. You cant be shy about moving your body a little to get your bearings in the air, untill you get good enough to be still in the air
Like powderbong said popping properly should usually fix this, grabbing can also help to keep you stay more stable in the air. However I'm still far more comfortable on rails also.
the reason you all suck at jumps is because your skiing fundamentals suck. and by that i mean you dont know how to carve properly, feel comfortable enough at high speeds, and just generally lacking the complete control necessary for jumping well. go ski around the mountain more, fast, and do turns (carves. dont just wash out your tails like a kook).
