Seen a lot of threads about the Olympics lately and figured it would be good to have a thread to keep it all in one place. FOR ALL SPORTS. I don't know about you guys but I couldn't be more stoked!
For some reason it just feels really weird when I hear people who have never even heard of slopestyle or pipe skiing talking about athletes like Dorey and Riddle like they've known about them for ages. Call me a hipster, but it leaves me with a weird feeling that I'm not sure I like.
Yeah, LoJo is a goddamn beast (kinda crazy though). It was really cool to see her at the Winter Games repping track and field especially with her disappointment in Beijing.
total joke sport. every fucking olympics there's a judging controversy in it. today korean lady Yuna Kim threw down a perfect skate but was "somehow" beat out by the russian chica. judging sports are always gonna be a bit iffy but this one takes the cake.
Yea I heard the replay of the commentator saying something like "and the skate of her life! there's no questioning she is the best of her sport! and here comes the scores... ohhh, what happened there..."
like just the most obvious corruption in the judging. it's pretty sad. That's why I like sports like hockey where even if the refs are totally against you you can still win a game. With figure skating (or skiing for that matter) if the judges are paid to have a certain person win then it can easily happen.
yeah i really enjoyed these games. watched a ton of cool events. bobsled/skeleton is still some of the gnarliest shit to compete in i think. bummed our hockey team shit the bed, but its all good.
I honestly wish ski jumping, bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events were on TV. I couldn't watch it religiously but it still gets me fucking hyped. Although I think not seeing them for four years builds stoke.
