Hey im. Looking for a new pair of park skis cause i blew out the edge on my codas and am looking at the halo 2 and nordica soul rider but cant choose between the two i ski basically 85 percent park and the rest of the time im skiing the resort with my buddies lookin for drops, trannies, and stuff to jib i am 5 foot 2 inches and am leaning more towards the soul rider but the i am thinking the 169 would be too long thanks

soul riders are awesome skis for real! if you prefer hitting rails etc the soul riders are the best skis you could ever buy... on jumps tho they suck. they don't support you at all when landing a little backseat etc. on the rest of the mountain soul riders are killing it with 98 underfoot compared to 95 of the halo 2

I feel like this is somewhat an inaccurate post. The Soul Riders may not be a completely ideal jumping ski, however they should be able to take a good majority of jumps quite well. They aren't nearly as soft as Mcslay portrays them to be, mine were surprisingly stiff the few weeks I used them. OP, either choice should perform well in the park, with the Soul Riders being more suited torwards all mountain and Halo 2's vie versa.

Yea i figured they would be a little stiffer but i looked at the specs and are the soul riders really lighter than the halo 2

I'd say right out of the wrap Halo 2's are softer then Soul Riders, however Soul Riders will eventually break in to be as soft if not more after many days of presses

i quite disagree your post. we're not talking about 25 footers, i'm talking about 45-50 foot jump. when you land backseat a little, the skis just won't help you get up, they'll flex right in your face and to be honest, mine are pretty flexy(because of the days i have in so far) So in my opinion those skis are really good for rails , trees , carving , etc but for jumps... they're not really great.

Not trying to thread jack but what bindings are good for soul riders, i hear they're pretty heavy already so i don't want to get super heavy bindings, are fks fine for them, im gonna try to buy a pair of soul riders this week so any information of what bindings for them would be good

Ive had the soul riders for about 3 months so far, and i love them. I agree with what everyone else says in this thread. They are stiffer than you think coming out of the box but they have already softened up a ton. Great in and out of the park. I have mine center mounted and they still shred on groomers. Great all around ski. And Im not sure about the 169's. They shouldn't be too big, plus you will grow into them

FKS's and STH's are fine. Binding weight is not very noticeable, and durability is far more important.

Go with the soul riders, probably one of the best skis i have tried out. Really good in the park and all mountain. I would go with the 169 version because thats equivalent to almost 5 inches over your head.

The way the skis flex also depend on your weight, which may affect how stiff/soft the noses/tails are. Regardless of the rocker profile, the Soul Riders aren't designed for doing really big jumping. Either way, both Halo 2's and Soul Rider's won't be an optimal choice on 50+ feet jumps because they're more jib oriented skis. However, neither is deemed useless on large sized jumps, quite the contrary actually. OP isn't looking for that stiffer, cambered jump ski, for tranny finding and butters either choice he make's will be perfect!
