"I love the chill vibe skiing brings, but honestly, competitively, people need to start some shit." -Wafflemaster. The first time I read this comment, I was like "Wow, this guy's retarded." but now that I think about it, it's so true! 07' is one of the most memorable years of competitive skiing. Why? Because two skiers were in a battle for gold and fans loved it. It was the Super Bowl of all competitive skiing. Skiing is such a chill sport, but we need to start some rivalries. Bears vs. Packers, Dodgers vs. Giants kind of things. X games and even Dew Tour would be so much more fun to watch, and think of the Olympics! I know we only have 10 days until the Olympics start, so it's probably too late to start one, but take this into consideration for the future.
I really don't see a need for a rivalry in skiing. In rivalries people try to push themselves to be innovative and do new things to beat someone else. If you look at skiing in the past 10 years the progression of skiing has been insane compared to other sports. This was all done without rivalries but skiers pushing each other to be better and the community of skiing pushing together to progress. That's one thing I love about skiing. We aren't becoming better because we hate someone else and want to be better than them, but to do insane tricks for the love of the sport and to inspire others and show just what the human body is capable of.
