The man competed in his last x games today and got a bronze medal. His run was so sick, especially with the nose butter dub. Plus the dude was just so stoked after he found out once he got bronze, seemed more excited than Goepper. Seems like a great guy and props to him on a kick ass last x games.

Totally agree. Andreas is one of the ALL-TIME greats.

One of the first skiers to truly push unnatural spins. You can watch his slope runs, even going back to like 08, and not be able to tell which is his natural spin direction. On top of that, he's always been right up there in having the biggest bag of tricks, and despite being one of the tallest guys, he's got style for days. He's pushed rail progression in comps both in terms of tech swaps and spins in and out, but also with 50's, taps, butters, creative lines, etc.

Beyond competing, he's filmed some classic parts and shots. Personally, I thought his part in Yeah Dude was in-fuckin-sane.

And, finally, the guy is maybe the most gracious, friendly, positive, and grounded of all the major athletes. He's a great human, and just an all-round class act. I will miss seeing Andreas' compete, that's for damn sure.

Congrats, Andreas, hat's off to you on an incredible comp career!

I've only heard all of this second-hand, so my question is whether this is a retirement from comp skiing, or at least a semi retirement from professional skiing all together. I've really enjoyed some of his segments in the past, so it would be awesome if he started filming full time. I totally respect the family stuff though.

undeniably one of the most well rounded and entertaining skiers for sure, glad to see him stoked on a podium and glad to see that someone decided to make a thread about it.

He definitely shook shit up with the TGP edits too, that was the first time I had ever seen Bendik or Oystein ski as well and man do they kill it

Casual summed that one up pretty well. Hatveit has pushed a lot of progression, been in the game for a good chunk of time, filmed some awesome parts, and more recently built the backyard setup of every kid's dreams. Great job with your comp career my man, and keep spreading the stoke.

One of the most consistent, technical and stylish riders in the game right now, and in the past almost 10 years. When I started to get into freeskiing he was one of my favorite riders back in the original JOSS videos. He's supposedly a really nice down to earth guy in person and has an amazing attitude.

His run is fire, doing technical butters up top, going big on the wall ride, flipping onto a rail (whole new level of technicality) and then doing a switch right cork 10 with perfect tail into a solid switch double cork 9 with into a butter double 10 that was so clean and nice and then a right dub 12 that looks incredibly natural to him.



Overall, be it his attitude, his skiing style, his video parts, consistency, longevity or his ambidextrous technical tricks Andreas is a legendary skier. Hopefully he can do well in Sochi as a nice way to finish his competition career!

Truth. Andreas did right dubs before it was even on other peoples radar. Such a genuinely nice dude with an amazing attitude. He will surely be missed at X but I am glad he's getting to spend some time with his fam.

The best part from that interview is in the end, when he's asked about the olympics. He says that it doesn't really matter if he crashes a bit at that point, so he might as well just put the pedal to the metal. I'm guessing the olympics will be well worth watching!

I thought Russ was the first to do rightside doubles? Or was he just the first one to link both direction dubs in a run? I also remember commentators a few years back saying that Chug set himself apart from the rest of the field by throwing both way dubs, but I can't recall seeing that with my own eyes...

Anyway, Andreas is a boss and has consistently been on my top 5 favorite skiers list since I first saw him do a switch 1080 in a city big air back in 2005. Mad respect and I wish him all the best in terms of family and future projects!
