Solid edit Jared! Did you get a new camera or are you filming with your gopro?
As for critiques,
- the first the shots to me are awkward. Adam is the subject yet he only takes up the very bottom of the screen. Try to put Adam fully into the shot or just zoom in to fill more of the frame.
- Like theskiinguy said the J.H.F was awkward. The font looks childish and it is a totally different font from the font you used for A Day With Adam. Also what does the J.H.F stand for? Is it your sort of film logo or brand? If so put it at the end of the edit. It feels much more in place at the end.
- the shot at 15 seconds where you cross Bear Run to get to the J Jib feels awkward because Adam isnt the subject. It feels that you are following the snowboarder but he isnt in the edit at all.
- I like the shots from 0:39 to 0:43. Its a cool perspective and the box/his skis are in the middle of the frame.
- if you are filming with your gopro make a pvc pole or some kind of mount to reduce the vibrations from your hand. It really helps the stabilization. Also you can get a really small and portable tripod off of amazon for like $15. If you are filming with a DSLR, if you wear the strap around your neck and push the camera out away from you so the strap is tight it helps with stabilization. Or just build a pvc cam caddy or buy a tripod.
- It looks like you may have tweaked the saturation? what ever you did i think it looks pretty cool.
- Lastly, if you are going to use the 2:35:1 aspect ratio make sure you shoot for it. Frame the subjects so that you know you wont crop them off. I think you may have cropped some of Adam in the opening shots which make it look weird. If you have a DSLR just put tape over the LCD screen where the crop would be but if you are on your gopro it will be tricky.
Solid first edit though. keep em coming!
