There has been some suggestions for park passes and with that the possibility of having to take a course or lesson on park etiquette. That sounds like a good problem solver except along with restricted park access comes all the extra hassel for the rest of us regulars. I don't think a legitimized system for this is the answer because it will become a lot like all the other bullshit we have to put up with in our day to day lives because people wanted a change. Like, people were tired of getting blown up, so now we have airport security and have to get to arrive an hour in advance. I just don't want to have to deal with that while I'm skiing because that's why I go skiing. To get away from all that.
My suggestion is we take the incentive.
The idea in my mind right now is to just tell the gapers who aren't using the park properly about park etiquette. But of course you don't want to stand there and preach the rules at the bottom of the park for 10 minutes.
So we need to streamline it.
If we had a a section here on newschoolers about park etiquette we could simply direct them here. You can get business cards printed for cheap. Just even a link and logo would do and you could print it up and cut them out for next to nothing. When you see the gaper kids rapin' the lips just say what's up. Introduce yourself and tell 'em what park etiquette/freeskiing is and give them the address to the page.
Don't scold them but invite them. Make them feel welcome (even if they aren't). They look up to us and would be more than thrilled to feel like they are part of something. If you make them feel welcomed into the community I would surprised if they didn't check out the page.
Now as I'm typing this I do see some flaws.
1) this takes a little bit a work, yes I know, shoot. But if just a few are willing we can make a change.
2) we could potentially have a bunch of kids running rampant on NS... I cringe.. not a place for a child.
3) It again.. takes a little work. maybe even a small amount of cash.
We could even make our own signs to place in the park. Stickers or some sort of advertisement. I won't openly endorse tagging but I won't deny its effectiveness.
