Pure speculation, but hear me out:
Johnny Moseley wins gold in Nagano in 1998 (most seen 360 mute grab ever)
(shit, skiing is pretty cool - most everyone)
Johnny Moseley Madtrix is released in December 2001 for PS2
Johnny Moseley gets 4th in Salt Lake in 2002 (would have won if new scoring system in place - dinner roll).
And since then, there hasn't been a video game for only skiing on a major council* (*Yes, ski free, Shredsauce (awesome), jiblife(lol) all exist (jiblife?), but I'm talking about a pure PS4 (etc.) skiing game). Some game developer is going to see how popular slopestyle and halfpipe are in the Olympics, then do some basic research and figure out that growth in skiing is booming and it will be a no-brainer for them to develop a game. The Olympics are the final push we need to get a game. Snowboarding has had too many games already (although I did play countless hours of Cool Borders).
Depending on who wins it'll probably be something like:
Goepper Freesking 2015
starring your favorite Sochi athletes including gold medal winner Nick Goepper...
-Ski the worlds best terrain parks and halfpipes
-Become a pro skier in career mode
-Unlock hidden characters including the original Canadian Air force.
-Race your friends online in chinese downhill mode
-Design your own terrain park
-Use credits to buy the latest 4XL jiberish hoodie
Hate all you want but I am going to keep on believing that we can do better than this:
And for me, having slopestyle and halfpipe in the olympics is pretty special since I distinctly remember watching Jonny Moseley's 360 mute on my mom's 13" TV. I was just starting to ski in terrain parks back then and watching that made me want to stick with it and keep trying ticks (among other factors).
