What kind of airbag are you hitting? One made out of concrete? I have landed in some of the worst positions on to an airbag and have never once did it even come close to the impact of landing on snow.
Last year, trying to learn doubles, I face/belly flopped prob 10 times.
Wear a helmet and you will be fine. I like it better when there is a little bit of snow on the airbag. So when you land on your skis....you can sometimes continue to ride right off of it, rather then sticking and falling over.
Op....your complaining about the airbag chipping your skis?!?!? Land on your skis and you wont have that problem.
