yep, happened sunday, im kinda worried it will affect my skiing, i feel really weird.

Yeah I got my first last spring. It's deinetly weird. You feel kind of drunk and sleepy for about a week. But I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon if it wasn't a really bad one. Just rock the helmet next weekend and make sure you don't hit your head for a while.

like i think i have had like 3 minor minor ones skateboarding like i hit my head then like wake up on the ground and like i dont remember what i did and when i crash it doesnt hurt. its kinda cool

Hmmm... never had one. Came close when I sledded into that tree and knocked myself out cold when I was 12, but that was about it.

A concussion is caused from your head rapidly decelerating(hitting the snow, or a hard object) while your brain keeps going and smashes into your skull. A helmet wont help you that much. I had a helmet on when I got my first one, just think of what would of happened had you not had a helmet on.....

yea a helmet would not help prevent a concussion too much, but it definetley wont be nearly as bad a concussion w/ a helmet. whoever said that its when ur brain hits ur skull is right, then ur brain swells up and it makes you feel all light headed and wierd, sometimes you get really wierd headaches.

had 2 skiing 1 playing soccer and 1 from gettin smashed in the head by sum kid------doesnt affect much ----no worried take a tylenol and just go skiing

^ahh it's actually quite a bit more seriouse then that. Last season i got like 4.. (yes im a total Hibbert) and I learned alot. They lead to altheimerz(sp) brain tumours and all sorts of shit. Just saying to make sure to be careful.. and if you do get a concussion give it a day or two... the reccomended amount of time is a month.. but obviously no one is going to miss a month of skiing over a concussion.

Helmets prevent concussions, that's they're main purpose. Having the hard shell followed by the foam inside slows the rate your head comes to a stop, it also lets the impact forces spread through the helmet rather than striahgt into your skull. If you think helmets don't prevent concusions, or that that's not they're main purpose, you're an idiot.

never had a bad one but I had minor ones and I just felt like puking, passing out or falling asleep on the lift. So weird. What else would a helmet protect you from if its not hitting your head its not like it will protect you from breaking your neck or anything.

God created alcohol so that ugly women could still have sex.

I got a pretty bad one last week.. I was unconcious for a bit and there is a good hour or two in there that I have absolutely no memory from. I swear my head is still screwed up from it but who knows. I went skiing that whole week with my head pounding.. just dont hit your head again for a little bit cuz it hurts trust me. Its really easy to get another one right after you get one too so take it easy for a few days.

its not a real concussion unless they throw you in and ambulance and rush you to the nearest cat scan machine. you'll be fine, the doc just told me to take'r easy for a few weeks and if I get a headache or feel dizzy then just take a brake.

actually my dad got a concussion once from boosting off a huge hip jump onto flatness and landed on his face. he couln't remember anything and went into a seizure about 2 hrs later.

Once you get your first one, you definitely need to go get a helmet. Concussions' effects get progressively more severe after your first one. Eventually, you start encountering severe memory loss, dizziness, loss of balance, and sometimes seizures.

i'm pretty sure it won't affect your skiing at all...unless you some crazy ass brain damage which you probly don't....if you get so many of them then you get brain damage and retarded......like a certain amount of SERIOUS ones....hibbert isn't there y et...i'll just put it that way

Hope you feel better soon. Fuck, I just bought a bad lt. ! I don't think the helmet had anything to do with it though, unless of course you hit your head somewhere that the helmet didn't protect. You also just could have hit it really hard, in which case, it doesn't matter what kind of helmet you have.

I had a classmate die after hitting his head on tree, helmet included.

so yea .. ive had 4 consuccions... football will do that to you. but the thing is, make sure you let yourself heal before you go again. skiing is all about mental ability, if you think you can do it, most likely you can. so let your brain heal, exercise your muscles and go at again. dont let anyhting hold you back
