Some skiiers wont make it to sochi

so after reading the freeskiier article about the places in the Olympic team, it has become apperent that many athletes won't make it, based on current standings only wise and geoper have locked in their spots in the team, skiiers like wallisch, brown, ABM etc might not even make the team which would be a massive disappointment due to the fact that they are OG and deserve to be there.

but we are trying to get together the best us team possible. His past performances clearly show he is better than anyone below wise in america. It would be a no brainer to pick him if he is better come olympics

True, I definitely agree that a healthy Torin should be on that team no questions asked.

But you have to admit it seems rather hypocritical to enforce a strict point-system to qualify that will inevitably cut some very capable skiers, while others could potentially get a ticket without even competing in a single event.

My argument is not so much about Torin as it is about the whole system of picking teams. I just feel like there could be a better way, but nothing is set yet so I guess we'll just wait and see how everything plays out.
