University of Central Florida to allow guns on campus.

So UCF, where I went to college, is allowing guns on campus now.

My school has gun lockers for shotguns/rifles right under the cafeteria and next to a game cleaning room

Jesus, It's changed so they can keep their guns in LOCKED CARS on campus. Its not like people are going to be walking around with ARs slung across their backs...

Remember when somebody shot Seung-Hui Cho and stopped the Virginia Tech shootings, yeah neither do I. I don't see how having guns on campus is bad as long as people follow the rules associated with owning them.

Good. I bet no psycho mother fucker that previously wanted to kill people with a gun on a college campus is now going to take action to do so just because you can have one in your car. They could've done it as easily as before when they didn't allow you to keep a gun in your car. It's not hard, you can have it in your trunk or somewhere concealed where no one would see it anyways until you would pull it out. This will do more good than harm and is a step in the right direction for self protection in a dangerous area.

I literally had never heard of this college until that bowl game this year, then I look it up and its like the 2nd biggest school in the nation..I'm looking for schools too, the fuck?

This is the inherent problem. Some people just will not follow the rules. If someone rages and has a gun with them then there's a few people shot before he gets gunned down, with very likely even more people shot in the resulting firefight. If that same person rages and doesn't have a gun, they start punching the crap out of someone and within not too long they'll be subdued with only a person or two with minor injuries.

Definitely true, I read just recently about some guy in Florida who shot and killed someone because they wouldn't stop texting during a movie, thats pretty unacceptable. I believe that guns in the hands of responsible owners will prove to be more beneficial than any crimes associated with them but if this proves to lead to an increase in gun deaths then I see why the school would need to ban guns on campus.

So what does this theory have to do with the topic? That's the case with any weapon in any situation if your point is valid. If someone rages at a baseball practice are they definitely gonna kill someone with a bat because they can get it out of their car?

uhm. it has to do with the point being raised that shootings like Virginia Tech wouldn't have happened if guns were allowed on campus, where I'm rebutting saying that MORE situations like that are possible to happen if people are allowed to have guns with them.

You're right, it is the case with any weapon, but some weapons are far more deadly than others.


Would you rather someone go crazy with a baseball bat or a gun?

Hint: the answer is baseball bat. But if that person really is going crazy, if they have a gun that's just as easy to access as their baseball bat then they're probably going to grab the gun instead.

but considering the vast majority of people subconsciously shoot to miss, it's scary knowing that there might be half a dozen untrained people shooting willy nilly at a target 5/6 of them won't even be aiming at. This could easily result in far more casualties.

the problem with this statement is if Seung-Hui Cho had walked onto campus carrying a gun and the rules said he was allowed to have it then the police couldn't do anything until he actively started shooting. Furthermore, If people are carrying guns around campus and someone gets drunk or in a fight things could easily escalate to the wepons being used. People dont follow the rules

I wasn't trying to reference the article I was trying to reference that guys post. I have no problem with guns being in locked vehicles (Although I think it would be safer to have a gun safe with campus safety so people can't break into cars and steal them). But the post I originally referenced seemed to think that if someone had a gun on their person they couldve stopped the virginia tech shooter when in reality that isnt whats happening.
