.MASSHOLE.My daily commute is ~2 hours roundtrip depending on traffic but its a combined 50 miles. Traffic can be a day ruiner depending where you live.
oh i'm well aware. i had a round trip commute of about two hours for about a year before I said fuck this and moved/got a different job. ultimately my time is worth too much to sit in a car, unpaid, for 10-15 hours a week.

I just moved from a 30+ minute commute filled with assholes to a 2 minute commute that is all right hand turns and I don't even stop fully most days. It is fucking amazing. All that time I would normally spend pissed and wasting gas I now spend chilling on my porch sipping coffee.

This. Except my commute was an hour both ways, through Rush Hour. Now it's something like .6 miles. I leave literally 5 minutes before I need to be in my seat at work. So fucking nice.
Some jobs you don't know what your commute will consist of. I'm an electrician so my commute could be 5min to 2 hours one way. I've worked in 5 different states with that number likely to become larger in the future. I'm not about to go find a lower paying job to avoid a drive time though.

That's totally different though. I would think that unless you're self employed, you'd at least get mileage for your commute to the job site? If not, you could at least claim mileage from the "office" to the job site on your taxes.

Yes you're absolutely right. Because it's not a permanent jobsite you can legally write off the mileage and gas but you have to keep a daily log and receipts
I suspect that it will be some sort of encounter between Brienne / Pod and Arya / Hound, leading to Hound getting mortally wounded and Brienne getting captured while Arya flees. Then, LSH.

Thats what I did last season, so worth it. It helps kill the time between the seasons too if you pace it well. I read mine slowly and it lasted 6 months.

Yeah and I figure that it will be a little easier to follow since I know all the characters already. I tried to read the first book a couple years ago and all the jumping around just made my head hurt.

You might still have a problem as you probably know about half the characters but I strongly encourage you to read them nevertheless.
finale was just meh imo...which is a shame because this season has been killer. they tried to get too much done in one episode. that should have been covered in two, maybe three episodes. tyrion's scenes were WAY too short.
Disclaimer: I am not one to complain about creative license taken to make the books fit into a TV medium, I'm normally fine with the changes. That is the first episode I have legitimately hated. Some of my gripes are budget-driven but some are just Benioff and Weiss (and whoever else is responsible for that travesty) bastardizing the story in order to create clear and unambiguous heroes and villains which is contrary to the entire point of this enterprise.
1. Jojen dying... seems like he could be pretty important in Martin's narrative going forward, no? The "children" turned out to be one child, and the Bloodraven reveal was done in such a way as to essentially require me to ask "so ****** what?" Also they did a terrible job of the visual there; just looked like a guy stuck in a bush. Here is some art that approximates my mental picture of what he's supposed to look like:
2. Dany and the dragons was okay, not very emotionally powerful but hard to say how it could've been improved.
3. Could Stannis's arrival have been any more anticlimactic? When reading it that scene paralleled, for me, Gandalf's arrival at Helm's Deep to save the Rohirrim. Some of this is budgetary but the bird's eye view of lines of cavalry riding it to the rather ho-hum battle scene was yawn-inducing. Incidentally were all the giants sleeping?
4. Everything involving Brienne, Sandor and Arya was good. Best part of the episode, not a bad departure from the books.
5. Tyrion's stuff sucked. First, if you cut the largely pointless Ygritte-funeral scene, maybe you have enough screen time to cover how it was that Jaime broke him out so hilariously easily. But more importantly, the show has made Tyrion's character noticeably shallower, and Jaime's as well. The Tywin scene was lacklustre but even beyond that... the Shae thing makes no sense. She betrayed him, slept with his father who incidentally arranged to have him killed for a crime he did not commit, and upon seeing him, tries to stab him. Yet he's really broken up about killing her in self defense? F off. In those ten minutes the show demonstrated its massive, complete inferiority as a medium. This is one of the top 5 events of the whole series and I despised what they did with it. Just absolute trash.
I have not questioned much in the way of departing from the source material but that made me actually irritated watching it. If they'd done the LSH reveal properly at the end that might have salvaged it somewhat for me but they completely punted on that. Possibly just cut out of the show altogether.
That leaves a terrible taste in my mouth and now it has to remain there for the better part of a year.

Exactly. I'm pissed. They wasted too much time at the wall. I'm a big fan of the wall, but they could have used that time elsewhere. The shit with Toromund was pointless. Ygritte's burial AT THE TIME i liked, it showed how much he cared for her, but looking back that time could have been used elsewhere.
Bloodraven is nothing what I expected, I expected to see some CGI monster with roots going straight through him, not Sarumon sitting on a weirwood throne. Fucking lame.
NO LSH took the cake for me, I was like OK, YES Riverlands with 2 minutes left, oh OK, they'll show Arya on the bow of the boat then cut to LSH. God, that made me so angry.
IT pains me to say this, and like you said I'll have to have a sour taste in my mouth for 8 months, but I give this episode a D, bordering on an F.
None of the classic lines were in it " She's fucking ___ and ____ and Moon Boy for all I know" , " Wherever whores go" etc.
After sleeping on it, I have am disappointed as well. A lot more could have been done in terms of detail and material covered. It would have however, required an additional episode which seems to be out of the question unfortunately. Hopefully the producers take note and try to address some shortcomings from the season for the next one.
The wherever whores go line was huge and they just left it out and we never hear the truth about Tansy.
The whole children scene from the beginning where the wights look like pirates of the Caribbean skeletons, the children throwing bombs or some shit and bloodraven looking way lamer than I expected killed the episode for me right there.
We all knew Jojen was gonna get merked if he hadn't been already (can still be mixed into the weirwood paste to). No coldhands, but they still made it to the cave. Tyrion still killed a whore and his father. Stannis still came. LSH can still come, I was super disappointed but hopefully Frey's will be hanging all next season building up to a reveal.
As much as I'd like things to be closer to the books, it's a TV show. As soon as you come to terms with the fact that this isn't the books, the more you'll enjoy it.
