Everyday I try and do something nice for someone else. Whether it's minor or major it still changes that persons day. What's the last good deed that you have done?
There was a homeless woman on a corner near my house holding a sign that said "I'm dreaming about chicken". I went to the nearby King Soopers and bought her a chicken lunch. Went back to the corner where she had been standing and she was gone. It had only been about 5 minutes since I drove past her.
My family and I give to food drives all the time. We volunteer to make bag lunches. We'll probably help out at the food bank too.
I try to follow OPs example to do a good deed daily. It's not easy. It's not that you don't have opportunities, it's just that you have see them and be willing to take the time.
Sometimes you know that you are in a position to help out and you just have to do it. The last day I was coaching, I was standing there after all the kids had been picked up. There was a pair of skis and poles laying there. They were twin tips so I thought they might have belonged to a kid on our team, but I wasn't sure. I could have easily blown it off and hoped that the owner came back to pick them up. Instead, I picked them up and carried them back to the Children's Center. Texted and facebook messaged the parents and it turned out that they did belong to one of our kids. It felt really good knowing that the kid got his skis back. As a kid myself, I left my new skis outside of our locker room, and the next morning they were gone. I will never forget how miserable I was when I realized that my skis were history.
Let some guy who seemed like he really needed it borrow one of my clean syringes. Luckily, I got it back though so I'll be able to get some use out of it.
