I'm really hoping OP is park crew at Whitetail so you can get your shit straight. I've only been up there once this season since I normally ride rmr and liberty. I tend to stay away from Whitetail because the park crew has no idea what the hell they are doing. A lot of the riders that have migrated over to liberty and roundtop agree with me. The lips look like they are built by a fucking 10 year old, and the fat bitch on park crew should just fucking quit. At the preseason jam she was trying to fix the landing after every single drop but had no idea what she was doing while making everyone wait.
That being said, the park is definitely headed in the right direction over the past couple years. Today they got 23 features in the main park but the problem is they have to make everything "safe" for beginners. Building every feature so that it's safe for beginners isn't going to attract good riders. Last time I was there, there were no urban lips at all. Build some fucking bigger features with actual lips. Also building the jumps with backsides so the beginners can roll over the jumps certainly isn't going to make the park better.
hahaha I ski whitetail/liberty all the time. This year whitetails park has been much better than liberty's. Whitetail has this sick blue pipe that is so much fun, but they put it past the park chairlift.... That blue pill they set up is fun too and the down flat rail, 20 ft handrail, and corrugated pipes are all good times. I find there boxes and most of there rails to be hella unpredictable in stickiness and there jumps almost always are complete shit. All in all, there is much room for improvement, but there are some features that are somewhat worth while. Liberty sets up nice jump lines usually though
stupid mobile.
you can do on the poorly setup features. the dfd box during the preseason was really fun just to huck yourself on trying 3 swaps and stuff.
they just need a park manager that is more determined(same with liberty) both parks have a lot of potential. Liberty has enough park room to compete with Boulder if they got it together.
We are finally getting the park at RMR together, hopefully tomorrow will be a fun day still no more jumps because of rain but they should be done being built this week.
Ya the jumps were big but they didn't take into account how much speed you actually need to clear them... I lost 2 toenails that day from knuckling. ;(
threads because i am very interested in seeing how good it is, based on the facebook updates it sounds like it would be awesome with everything they have set up.
i have been relatively loyal to rmr typically, but the times i have been so far this year i was absolutely underwhelmed. terrible arrangement/quantity and in my opinion not a great variety of standard, trickable rails for non-experts. i went to liberty for the first time this year a few days ago and thought it was awesome and will go there for the remainder of the season. aside from checking out whitetail because they made it sound like they have tons of stuff set up
The park is much better right now than I remember, they have a lot of stuff set up. Not sure if the park crew was more on point today cause of the comp but the park was solidly above average for whitetail. The first jump was pretty nice so they added that feature to the comp today. I'm pretty stoked to come out on top, the set up was fun and I might start going to whitetail more. With liberty's current set up, I think Whitetail actually has a better park when its maintained.
hadn't been in six years. decided to go about a month ago. i won't be back anytime soon. with that said, liberty's park isn't looking too hot either. last year it was a lot better. Whitetail should hire people who actually ride park for their park crew.
when were you there and what would you want to see?
After a week of having pretty much nothing in the park we are finally starting to get it put together. We are going to start putting a beginner/session area where Incubator (next to jbar park) used to be and fencing it off on weekends. 3 jump line is on the way, we are trying things different this year a putting the jumps at the top. It is our first time doing that so we needed to wait to see where the rail piles would go. We still need to add to the bottom section. When Fife is done, we will give J-bar park a remake and then finally Bunker. If you have anything you would like to see feel free to PM me or talk to any of the park crew guys when you are there. We are really trying to make the best park we can this year so that everyone will like it, but it is taking time.
Just noticed that the park page isn't updated so here is a list of things we got. 15ft Jump, stair set, banked bar, bonk, long flat bar, down bar, dfd bar, down hybrid box, fuf tube, butter box long and short, A-frame, and mini jump.
Nice save Toast. I think Whitetail is ok, but that's because I usually pull into the parking lot with zero expectations. If there is one out of there "38" features (which includes a massive corrugated pipe that beginners can ride through, yes ride through) I am pleasantly surprised. I think they should figure out the beauty of quality instead of quantity. RMR and Liberty have figured it out, and that's why riders will make the trips there. On a positive note, Whitetail did have a pretty fun jump today in jib junction. You just basically had to skip everything just to hit it though. With a jump that floaty though, it was worth skipping everything. Whitetail is SLOWLY but surly moving in the right direction, but if they want to stay with their sister hills they need to move a little faster. I hope for the best, but there is no doubt I will forever roll into that parking lot with minimal expectations.
toast, thats good to hear what you guys have planned. i think i was last at roundtop about a week ago. the things i didn't like was just the placement of the rails i think, like they would be spaced out in a crooked way and the park was only 1 feature wide, so different options weren't really available. also, im kinda confused what you mean by incubator
i think my favorite kind of rails are just like a 4 inch wide 20ft down rail, just because im earlier in the progression stage than alot of the better riders at rmr and like something to just practice things on over and over. the 40ft smooth tube was sick too. and i checked the park site everytime before i came up, that's a really great thing you guys do
We have that down rail in now.
Incubator used to be the beginner park that was on Fife and Drum before we acquired the rest of the slope. It was a small area to skiers left of the J-bar park on fife. We will be fencing it off on the weekends. It contains very trickable features/beginner ones. This week we had 2 boxes a mini jump and an A frame.
