Making videos smaller in height

I feel so stupid for asking this but lately I've been watching a lot of ski videos that are a lot shorter in height and it kind of looks compressed? I have no idea how to explain what I mean, I guess instead of regular 16:9 like out of the camera it looks more like 16:6, +k for help!

it's commonly called a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, anamorphic, cinemascope, and other names. it's really easy to achieve, just google for a tutorial. if your camera has crop marks for it then use them. Magic Lantern has it I believe and most higher end camcorders will as well

Recently this style has become very popular and many people prefer it. (Including Me) This is known as anamorphic or 2.35:1. You can achieve this look by cropping your video (which is the most popular method) What I do is, when i open a sequence in Premiere I make the resolution 1920x818. This will automatically crop your video and will make your video look much more cinematic.

Only issue is that viewers would need a vertical monitor to receive the best experience, but you could get so close, so much head room
