Why dose the gopro footage in there ads look nothing like the shit i have
why dose the go pro footage in there ads look nothing like the quality in my videos i use a hero 2 HD why is there footage completely different quality i use final cut pro to edit any settings of choice or editing software or tips to get the quality better on the go pro footage?
I made this thread a few months ago in the media board, with a gopro 2 you need to update the cameras firmware so it will shoot in what they refer to as 'protune' mode which essentially shoots uncompressed and not color corrected. Then you have to go in after and color correct everything. You also need to be running a class 10 SD card as well.
Yes, but even the regular 3 (Black Edition) can. Like the guys above me, most of it is good lighting and color correction is HUGE. That's like most of the equation.
Yeah you can pull great stuff out of the HERO 2 if youve got it set to 1080 30FPS Protune. Its the same quality as the 3 honestly. The big advantage that the 3 has over the 2 is that the 3 can shoot 1080 at 60fps over the 2s 30fps.
A lot also has to do with content. If you see amazing stuff like lions and sharks and skydivers and it is reasonably sharp, you will be distracted from pixel peeping. Also, they nail the exposure, color correct, and they have experienced editors. If you saw some of their b roll footage directly out of camera, it probably wouldn't impress you too much.
True but most people do not have a single screen in their house next to maybe a retina display that can output anything higher than 1080p, so who gives a shit? I would always prefer to shoot at 1080 at 60fps than anything else at a slower frame rate, at least until 4k becomes popular.
No I see what hes saying, if you are shooting at 4k, and you cropped down to 1080 I wouldn't think you would even notice. Never though about it that way. I would think it would give you a little more room for errors when shooting knowing you can just crop in to cut out that gapers head who skied infront of you during the shot or whatever.
That was a pretty good read. Still though with action sports it seems that although yes, cropping is bad, if you want to have some room to either say stabilize the video in post, or crop out unintended gapers that shooting at 4k and downscaling to 1080 could be a viable option. I could be totally wrong, as I have no 4k experience, but conceptually it seems like a not terrible idea. From a photo standpoint I agree with you and the blog completely.
