So I have a pair of almost new (I've rode on them maybe 10-15 days) '07 (?) Surface Watch Lifes which are too stiff for my preferences. I love buttering around the mountain so I was pretty upset when I found out buttering is impossible on these skis, no matter how hard I try to flex the tails. The nose is a little softer, but I'd still prefer if the ski had a little more flex in it. Is there any way to safely soften a pair of skis?
Dad found them on ebay new for a hundred something dollars, so it beats the hell out of paying 500-600 for this years model. Plus you're pretty much garunteed to be the only one with those skis at your mountain.
By wearing in, do you mean just riding the skis regularly for a while? Because I'm sure that might help a little, but I can't imagine it'll be the different between skis with about the same amount of flex as a rock, and being able to B-Dog it around the mountain.
And thank you, a bunch of guys were doing it last year which is where I got the idea, not sure why I haven't seen anyone else with it yet this year.
ive heard of people somehow heating up the ski and making it more flexible. how ever idk if this actually works but i heard kieran does that with his soulriders
Max hill puts his afterbangs I between to cinder blocks and jumps up and down on them and my brother who was used to his ep pros from like 06 or something like that they are super buttery so he took his stiff skis and just started flexing them against a wall just bending them hard and he said it seemed to work.
