After being banned from purchasing a chairlift by France, Austria, and Switzerland, North Korea's first ski area, Masik, recently opened with one 30 year-old second-rate double chairlift, and a new definition to "white ribbon of death." Their acquisition of equipment such as snowmakers, snowcats, and snowmobiles is said to violate the UN ban on luxury items.
