Bent Chetlers for a Big aggressive Skier?

Im headed to Jackson in a few weeks, and im thinking its time to upgrade from my 4frnt msps 187 (love em)- Im 6'4 and 220 advanced/expert and i ski hard, but love to jibb and play around... im looking for something that can handle the tracked out snow well, while still having good float in the pow, and can shred groomers after the bar without a ski swap..
I stumbled across some 12/13 chetlers for $400 and was curious as to peoples thoughts...
i've read that they are stiffer than they used to be and although not a carving ski, they handle surprisingly well on hard-pack...
any suggestions on lightweight binders to go with it?

They are awesome. I am 5' 10" and I ride the 192. I love them. They are fun in pow and definitely shred the hard pack great for their size. They are stiffer than I originally thought, but I found that to be a good thing. But I am able to get out over the tips for butters.( will be easier for you with your height). I have even been using them as my daily driver here in South Dakota since I broke my arm. I highly recommend them. Any questions feel free to ask.

That'd be an awesome ski for you. Bents are sick.

I skied the 192 for a winter (220 here). I enjoyed them in the blower, but they lacked burliness when charging through crud.

I switched from Automatics to Bent Chetlers this winter and am in love. They give up nothing over the Automatics except maybe big landing stability (slightly), but feel way more fun and are a little better in chop. 6ft4/185lbs, strong skier.

thanks for the input guys! I think i may just have to pull the trigger on the 192's.... From what ive heard i should go with "team line" for mounting... which some say is too far forward.. but im used to riding center mounted skis so im not too worried about it.

If you are going for jibby pow ski that is probably a good bet. I would maybe recommend mounting a tiny bit farther back than the team line. I have the 183 for the same purpose(5'9"-175) and I feel like they ride a tiny bit better about halfway between the team line and the farthest line back.
Hope they work out for you. I will always have a pair in my quiver.

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, you could look into some recent years' 4frnt crj. Pretty soft but can charge hard on groomers and hold an awesome edge. I believe i have the 2012-2013 model and they kill it everywhere.

bents made me get blogs. (they were cheaper and I don't need that much width). for your size, though, I'd totally recommend bents. sick skis!

But even in the 188cm length the CRJ feels super short. The Bents aren't nearly as tapered and feel much more true to length.

i just got the bent chetlers 2013 model for a pretty good deal at a local shop and i was wondering where you guys have yours mounted. i like how skis ride center mounted but i was thinking like the +2 mark just shy of true center? what do you guys think?

Don't do that. Mount them on the team mark or farther back. They are meant for powder, and if you mount a powder ski center they suck balls 100% of the time. Even a symmetrical ski like the Volkl Chopstick skis better mounted back from center.
Its the suggested point for a reason. I mounted mine closer to the second point (about -1.5 behind the team line) and they still rode perfectly fine switch.
Seriously though, unless its a 100% symmetrical ski and you only ever ride it in the park, AND you are good enough to appreciate the tiny difference, don't mount anything center, ever.
All times are Eastern (-5)
