ON3P x Jiberish Collab topsheet is what he was talking about. We made John Kutcher (plus some other team riders) a pair of FR last season with this top that he spent much of the year on.
We usually allocate 2 or 3 pairs of park skis per year, depending on how much urban they are hitting. Sometimes they get by on 2, and we've rarely had to do more than 3, but it has happened once or twice and usually related to a big impact or something. They just end up replacing them when the edges are so worn down to where they are urban quality, then they retire that pair to urban status and mount up a new pair for park. We know the numbers of skis that some skiers from other companies go through (10+ park skis per year) and are really glad we don't have to replace skis at that level, as we would only be able to afford a super small team.
Karl's been hitting urban recently on a pair of skis that is 2 years old (Jmos with caylor rocker) that he just loves (seen in this edit, so you can see he's been skiing them for awhile -
http://vimeo.com/36264955), so we get pretty good life out of our skis. Some of the skis are still skiable when they are retired too, so sometimes we will snag them so we have singles around incase a customer breaks and ski and needs a single.
Either way, hitting lots of rails and urban is rough on skis and there is only so much you can do right now to extend the life of skis under such abuse. It is something we certainly think about constantly, but again, there are limits to what you can build for.
Also, for clarification, John Ware's first day on ON3P was early this season. He was still on Surface last year/all summer.
As for the Atomics the thread was about, just pay attention to them and try and take care of them. If they are over a year old, you are probably out of warranty, but a little bit of work keeping the ski together could prevent some pretty wholesale delams as far as the edge goes. If it is starting to come apart, the sooner to seal it up and clamp it back together, the less water will seep in there and the less long term damage will occur. If you let it sit and get wet and don't do anything about it, it will get progressively worse as you use the skis. Good luck.
