It's unfortunate that there have been 2 suicide bombings recently around 300 miles away from where the olympics are occurring.
As of now, they have informed us there will be 1 security person for every 6 people in the region. The olympics will be virtually the safest place in the world while they are going on. The dangerous places will be airports and train stations just outside of the region.
But think about it, nearly every olympics in modern history has been an area of interest for "terror." If we stop events or change our routines out of fear, we are giving in and letting them win.
Yeah, I could be at the opening ceremonies while there is a bombing and I could be killed. That's scary. But I could also get meningitis on the plane there. I could be in an inbounds avalanche while I'm in LAAX the week before. I be shot on the metro while I take the train through Compton tomorrow to get to Long Beach. I could get shot in the movie theatre tonight when I go see American Hustle. I could choke on my dinner tonight or die in a car crash when I get on the freeway. I could spend my entire life in a padded house eating only mashed potatoes hoping my home doesn't catch fire. But that's no way to live.
And when I come back unscathed, I'll have had one of my best experiences of my life thus far and hopefully be able to assist others on how they too can bring a bit more adventure into their lives.
