This. People who say poles are obsolete should learn how to ski.
I had to ski pow last week with no poles because broken wrist. My balance was completely off and its real difficult to do short turns round trees, rocks etc.
I think poles in the park mask the flailing of the arms that is seen so often with people that dont use poles. However, once you get to a certain stage and your balance and air awareness is good then i agree, there is no difference. IMO, there are still only a select few that can pull this off.
Fuck all of you, no poles is fun. I feel like my hands aren't out of control either way. Holding long sticks in your hands while flipping and spinning is really counter intuitive. Not saying i don't ever use poles, but i feel really limited and annoyed with poles.
and people saying "i don't flail with poles"... You're the same person with or without poles, you either flail or you don't
Why the hate? They're just like us, doing what they love and having fun. Some of that stuff was pretty sweet too, regardless of them being on scooters. People probably think the same about us when they see our edits
All you guys defending the scooter kids are scooter kids. Even skaters think scootering is stupid. It's just silly looking. Especially when they try to look thug.
I see more and more kids on scooters at the skatepark I usually go to. Not gonna lie there's a few kids who can throw the fuck down on them and actually impress me. However there's way too many 5-10 year olds in may way for me to truly respect scootering. Maybe in a few years.
There's a good amount of groms where I ski that throw the fuck down, and understand park etiquette thanks to NYSEF. But a Skatepark is way smaller, and when there's already 20-30 kids there, other people get in your way enough.
