Living with a friend's family

Anyone done this before? How did it go? My family is going to have to move to Florida because of my dad's work. I'm a junior right now and really don't want to have to move for my senior year and I'm trying to explore options on how I could stay and finish high school.

Also, have any of you had to move for your senior year of high school? How did it go?

I'm just trying to get some opinions from people have been in the same situation before.

where in florida? and i know high school senior year sounds glamorous, but it's not. you'll get to go on ski trips for breaks, and it's only one year until you can move out west for college. do it!

Fort Lauderdale. It's a pretty sweet area and there's a ton of cool shit to do I just am sort of struggling with the idea of having to make all new friends and being the new kid after having the same really good friends since 1st grade

Had a friend live with me his senior year, wasn't really different then my normal life but it all depends on how well you know the family/how close you are to the kid you are staying with

I moved to Florida freshman year from the same place I've been living for basically my entire life.. Kind of sucked but it was worth it to expand your horizons and get to meet new people

Plus you're only going for a year (albeit senior year) so you don't have to worry about not skiing for the next 4 years , you can leave to college or whatever after the year. Plus living with your friends family might kind of suck compared to living with your own

also, you get to pick up new hobbies that you may have never been able to try. i live like a half hour from ft lauderdale in Boca Raton, and theres beaches everywhere so you can learn to surf/skimboard or go to cable parks and wakeboard/wakeskate/wakeski if you havent already. if you like mountain biking there are some pretty sick trails that have boardwalks and jumps and shit

i personally dont skateboard but if you do you can play year round, same with pretty much any summer sport here

I moved to Florida in high school as well. Sucked at first but looking back it was the best thing that ever happened to me

my family moved out of michigan when I was twelve. same deal as you, I had to leave all my friends I've known since elementary school. then we moved from spot to spot every few years in SLC so throughout middle school, I was the new kid a lot. I spent like grades 7 through 9 at different schools. Luckily it's just your senior year, so it's going to be a breeze for you. Then you can skip town and head out west. I hated moving at first but it was the greatest thing ever to happen to me. been here like 5 or 6 years and have met some amazing people. some of which are really close friends of mine too. Trust me, it will kind of suck at first, but once you start working with what you got, it will all be better.

Oh sick I used to live in boca when I was little. That's the thing id be pretty stoked about. We'd buy a fishing boat when we get down there so I could start fishing and scuba diving along with all the other shit you just mentioned. I also really wanna try kite surfing, it looks so much fun. I think I've just been overthinking the whole thing, I'm sure I'll be fine, it will be a good change from the limited activities there are in a ski town, especially during winter. There definitely are a lot worse places I could have to move

I moved from SoCal to Maryland my ninth grade year so that sucked a lot! Even though it sucks , Florida isn't nearly as shitty as Maryland and it's only for one year, not four... I'd say suck it up! You'll appreciate skiing a lot more if you do that's for sure!

One of my best friends is living with me right now. She moves from friends house to friends house because her home situation isn't good at all. The best advice I can give is to adapt to the new rules of the house and be super grateful.

Yea, I never really realized how much I liked skiing until I moved here - I'm heading to whistler next year , I really don't believe I would have left my small town . You really find out what's important

Living with a friend would be pretty sweet, then during breaks you could go down to visit your family. Trust me I practically live at my friends house and its awesome. Smoke dank, play video games, and ski. Its da life.

Yeah she has, her dad died and living with her mom isn't safe for her so this is the best we could do. It's really tough on her but she's gotten better

as the others said senior year isnt all its cracked up to be, at least at my school, go to florida run show in school, ski all break like go on a good trip out west, then ur in college do what you want, when you head home you will have way more attention and more fun. its one year i would totally do it, FT.L is a sick spot

That's exactly what college is. If I were you I would just go to Florida, not give a shitdam and try to rail as many new bitches as possible, then go to college and do it again. Senior year sucks, high school sucks. Trust me, when you get to college you realize how much most everyone in high school just sucks.
