Giro Combyn, it is a bit expensive ($120) however it's made of silicon nitrite so it is very flexy and can take more than one impact. I have one and I love it

Then take your beanie into a shop and find the one that fits YOUR head & beanie combination. Safety is a given- all certified helmets have to pass the same standardized tests. Sure some claim to go above and beyond, but there is no way to measure that "extra" safety.

Go buy what fits your head and budget.

the kinds that fit[serious]. But I really like my scott scream helmet, it has a ton of interchangeable pads so I can wear any hat and set the helmet's pads so that it fits well with whatever hat I choose.

This belongs in gear talk firstly. As for the helmet all helmets meet the minimum safety requirements established so they all are pretty much them same safetywise. That is besides poc. Poc is the only company that claims to have a safer helmet and actualy does. At my training for work this year we had our states head concussion specialist come and talk to us about helmets and concussions. He said all helmets are the same safeness or use besides poc and said theycontinue to go above and beyond trying to always make their helmet safer. So uf safety is your biggest concern get a poc. If you dont really care about that then they are all the same pretty muchfrom there.

I know helmets don't prevent concussions, just suppresses the impact thus decreasing severity of them, but I would not had as bad of a concussion had I not been wearing a maze and something else. I feel there are way better single-impact helmets out there other than the maze. Poc makes helmets rated for multi-impacts so it's a great investment. got mine like 3 years ago and it's still going strong

I see. i hit my head pretty hard on the edge of the box and got a concussion like 2 weeks ago. is my helmet unsafe now? Its a K2 rant btw.

I like my Smith Holt, it is good quality, protects my head well, and was really cheap. They are pretty bulky though. the maze is much lighter.

This year I changed helmets from a Holt to a Combyn and couldn't be happier.
Fits me a lot better than the holt and is very comfortable.

I've seen a ton of broken Smith Maze helmets.. they use a really thin plastic.

Yes, it is unsafe.

A good rule of thumb is if you hit your head hard enough where you are like "wow, I'm glad I had my helmet it on" you should replace it. And always replaced a dented or cracked helmet regardless of a fall or not.

A helmet's job is to absorb the impact rather than your head. A broken/shattered helmet is actually a good sign. It means it worked.

The Maze is an In-Mold helmet, rather than an ABS shell on EPS foam (like the Holt). Both designs have the same safety and offer the same protection. You are paying more for In-Mold because it is lighter and lower profile while still offering the same safety as ABS + EPS.

POC receptor bug. I've slammed my head hard in that thing several times and on several occasions I have been surprised that I didnt have a concusion. Best helmet i have ever had.

Whatever's most comfortable. Different companies make differently shaped helmets, and people have all sorts of differently shaped heads. Not really one of those things you can figure out by asking on the internet, you're gonna have to go and try them on yourself and see what feels best.

i can dent a fucking smith with my pole basket. POC has saved me many times and its the only helmet i can really trust. Go with the POC receptor bug. Expensive but worth it.

I'm looking for a helmet too. Most popular helmets like smith maze or poc receptor do not fit my head. Should I go for the combyn? Never had a chance to try it on yet.
