I'm 16, 5'5, 135lbs and a fairly aggressive skier. I'm looking at a new pair of powder skis, and from the research I've done I'm pretty set on the Opuses. The only concern I have is that I'm looking for a super playful, jibby pow ski, and the Opus doesn't come shorter than 178, which I think might sacrifice a bit of that playfulness. If you have any suggestions on skis I'm open to those as well, but I'm mainly wondering if 278 would be too long for me.
You should consider JJs. I've ridden them a few times, I'm 5'5" and like 125lbs. I found them awesome in every way possible basically. Sort of like a park ski, but fatter and with rocker. They were quite light too and felt great hopping around and spinning. They were older ones, I tried the 175 or whatever they had, and the 185 or whatever it was back then. Neither were hard to ski, but the 175 was quicker for me so I liked that better. Plus I thought they turned well. They do have a some grip issues because of the tail rocker, but it's really not bad if you're not a noob. The tight sidecut is fun, and they pivot so easy in trees and stuff.
Im afraid those would be huge on you, and you wouldn't be able to butter around as well. If you want a playful backcountry pow ski here are a few options in your size
