Faction Soma v. Line Sick Days and other 1 ski quivers

My skis have officially delammed so it's time for some new planks. Been super high on everything Faction for quite a while but I'm very open to other one ski quivers. Anything more than 100 under foot is more than I'm looking for. The jeronimo looks sick but I'm worried about the stiffness. I ski a lot of crud where I'm from.

Prodigy. If there's one ski I pull out and put people on at demo's, it's the Prodigy. 98 underfoot, but quick edge to edge. Soma is a great option in the east to.

I like the Prodigy, but I feel like the Soma is a ski more equipped for the east coast. I was on the Prophet 90s for a long time and they seemed to be the ideal width for the bony nature of the east coast.

You want a softer ski for crud?

From my experience out east you want as much effective edge as you can get. I would advise away from rocker and go with a fully camber ski with a mid flex. Too stiff and the skis won't roll over and form with what ever crap you a going to run over. Too soft and you won't get a very good edge hold against the ice.

Yeah I definitely prefer a softer ski for crud, east coast bumps etc... I value playfulness and soft landings over anything else. If you ski places like Magic, MRG, and Jay Peak...and take trips to Tucks...then a softer rockered ski is absolutely what you want. If you're a groomer rat then rocker may not make sense.

Honestly, I have been skiing my 3.Zero's as my one ski quiver so far only for the east and i love them. They kick ass everywhere, so the Prodigy and the Soma will do even a better job on the versatility. You will not regret going up to the Prodigy, but so many people love the Soma as an all-mtn ski as well.

Soma will be a good option then, as it shares the same core construction as the Prodigy. There's a wave pressed into the wood core from tip to tail. Basically, it's pre-stressed and so torsionally it's not flexy. This means it has great edge hold for what we deal with in the east. Stiffer then the Wednesday. The Soma and Prodigy both ski extremely well here in the east, so Soma will be a little quicker edge to edge and sounds like that's what you're looking for.

Got the prodigy 2 weeks ago and skied in similar snow you d get in the east (not much) and i love it. I took it to thr park mostly and landings feel sooo gd. They re really buttery (im not too heavy, so its normally a bit hard for me to butter on medium flex skis). I was really impressed by how well it carves, defo the best carving twintip ive had. Somas are a bit less versatule i think, but if you re more into park then they might be better

Yeah. I think they're both incredibly versatile. That's not really the issue. From my experience in the east...a low 90 mm under foot is just about as much as you'd want. the 6 mm difference between the Prodigy and the Soma is definitely worth it for me considering where I'm from.
All times are Eastern (-5)
