No shame in that, I'd call that resourceful.

I'm literally just wondering about stealing a pair of skis or poles off the racks for resale or use. The shit that shouldn't be common but still makes you cautious when you leave your stuff.

Theft is a huge problem at bear. They even offer free equipment check but there is still at least 1 a week. Last year a couple of guys stole 10 boards in 1 day. Skis are less common because they are so custom.

Had my poles stolen once when I went in the lodge, just simple scot poles but they had some unique bends at the bottom. Caught the Tbar up sans poles, low and behold some little kid on rentals wearing jeans had fallen off a Tbar in front of me and he had my poles. Got off the T early and gave him shit for stealing and took them back

Being from a small hill I haven't heard of any stolen equipment. The only instance that I know of, and happened to me, was when someone stole my bottle of Fanta grape pop. We have cubbies in the chalet and I had stuffed my backpack into one of them and had put my half finished drink in the back corner of the cubby so it wouldn't fall over, it was still visible. When I came back in at the end of the day it was gone. I wasn't even mad because it was so stupid and funny that someone would take it. So yeah, that's my stolen Fanta story.

Fuck anyone who steals anything. I don't care if it's a bag of chips or a pair of skis, you're a piece of shit. If you are taking something that belongs to someone, you are making their life worse, and I hope you burn in hell.

Doesn't matter if it's a big corporation or if it's overpriced ski food either. You're still stealing from someone.

That's why you buy a 10 dollar bike lock or a ski/snowboard lock.. and if you don't know where to put the lock put it through the brakes. When you are going back out to ski then unlock skis, then lock the lock back to the ski rack so it doesn't get stolen or so you don't have to lug it around skiing.

never had anything stolen from my hill (perisher), i've even left my poles at the bottom of numerous lifts and they've still been there, however i did talk to one of the local fathers while on a lift and he said his volkl racetigers were taken from mid station, anyways he said he later found them in a perisher race kids locker, moral of the story racers think they're thug

A friend of mine observed a pair of dalbello boots in our boarding houses ski room just lying there for 2 weeks, when he realized they fit him, he started skiing them. He fucked off with them when he left the school.

Someone stole my poles last season... Some days later i found a pair just like mine by the lift, same lenght same damages mine had. Wasn't 100% sure it was them but i took them anyway.
Inever steal gear or anything for what it's worth, but i was broke and it looked just like mine soo... yeah.

I guess that's a benefit of skiing at a small hill. No one ever steals anything cause it'd be too easy to find it. We all know what everyone rides so stealing isn't an option

Back in October of '03, I was skiing on my brand new Pocket Rockets with 912 bindings at Wolf Creek, CO. We stopped in for lunch, and they were gone when we came out. I thought one of my friends was messing with me, if only that was the case. Killer conditions too!

Emailed a guy at Freeskier and they contacted a local Salomon rep who hooked me up with a great price to replace them.

There was a sick goggle case next to my car in the parking lot yesterday, no other cars parked around me so I snagged it rather than letting it sit there and deteriorate from all the salt and dirt.

But I would never ever ever go out of my way to take someones shit they worked hard for. People who steal skis are just scumbags. Put in the work to buy your own like everyone else you lazy fucks.

I had my skis stollen one time and found them on a rack outside other. Hotel/resort at the mountain when I went to report it to the ski patrol! I was talking to a guy that works at the place and he said that kids come up from New York all the time and stay at the resort and steal skis, I almost cried with joy after being reunited with my baby's.

But as has been stated, stealing peoples ski gear is fucked, I too have taken gloves and goggles from the lost and found for a day,

a few seasons ago my friend and i went in the lodge for some water, came back out and his JJs with jesters were gone, immediately filed a police report and the next day the police called him. The day before a man had been pulled over driving drunk and apparently had 5+ stolen skis, from out of town, and had a warrant. But then he didnt get his skis back for a year because they were 'evidence', best not to let your skis leave your sight
