Interior BC is basically the only place right now that is doing well, and they hare about to get hammered. Have fun.

Are you up there now? Care to give some insight on conditions, and the quality of the new snow out of this system?

There are some seats left at K3 this weekend and I'm not sure if I should commit to them.

There's snow. Stability though... If you read this before you head it: you're cat skiing so you don't need to make decisions, but if your guide keeps taking you to mellow slopes instead of all the 'fun' terrain that will constantly surround you, it's because of the avalanche danger.

We're at a tipping point today and possibly throughout the weekend.

Well I commit to sat/sun at K3. Hoping that the cold temps and clear skies dry's things out.

I've done enough cat skiing to know that you aren't skiing the gnar, even with the best stability. Especially if you go standby.

The snows been pretty good in the trees before this storm, so it should be a good time.

I'm hoping the resulting avy cycle from todays storm allows for better stability this weekend. I got some friends coming up for the weekend and I want to show em the goods! Still though, the issue will most likely remain as far as the deeper instabilities. I have some friends out touring today (for some reason, I rejected their offer to go and begged them to be safe), hope to hear back from them this afternoon about how things were. It is nice doing house work, drinking coffee and watching it just dump snow out my window here right now though!

I was worried this was going to happen back in September when we were getting snow and my friends just said I was being a pessimist. Jerks.

highway just closed between Sicamous and Revelstoke till some time tomorrow due to avalanche danger. fyi.

I did see that the hwy was closed, which does spoil my plans a little as I was planning on skiing inbounds at RMR friday. Oh well, looks like another day at BW, Snow is slow and deep in the secret spots, but it looks like mostly fog and no new snow today.

Speaking of stability, I did a ECT on sunday and had moderate reaction from both layers approx. 40cm and 80cm of a 140cm pack. Sudden Planar and Sudden Collapse respectively. Although I couldn't get anything to move from ski cuts, I'm sure with more loading there will be some impressive results.

Drail, I'm in Revy/Rogers most weekends. I'll send you a PM next time I'm in town, we should make some turns sometime. I mostly do the common routes.
