Lyft and other taxi style apps

Anyone use these things? I am traveling to Phoenix today and won't have a car the first 3 days. Does anyone use these?

I have heard of Lyft and Uber but haven't used either of them. What do you recommend? Do you have to reserve them in advance? Pretty much just wondering how they work.

i took lyft with a friend the other weekend, it seemed pretty quick and easy.  i havent yet loaded it on my phone but probably will in the future

i've used uber while visiting nyc before and it was actually really easy and they picked you up pretty quick.  good experience with it overall

also you don't really reserve them in advance, just when you need them- same as if you were calling a cab for pickup

Uber is my savior when intoxicated.
You can keep tabs on your driver to see where hes at on the gps on your phone hahaha

i live in SF and use it constantly. Its super easy, and costs the same or less than a cab. Use lyft or ubber X, dont use ubber unless you feel like ballin out.

i woul highly recommend using them so you dont have to wait around fro a taxi...then again i dont know if there are a ton of lyft drivers in pheonix like there are in SF.

lyft is tight, uberx is good but their surge pricing can fuck you a bit if you don't read the details, sidecar is tight but only works in seattle and LA last time I checked.

I use Uber on a daily basis pretty much. You use it via an app on your phone where your credit card is connected to it. You then request a car to your location (there are different types of cars which have different rates). Basically calculates a rate based on time & distance & you're also just being driven in a nicer car compared to a taxi. Uber X can even sometimes be cheaper than a cab.

I've used uber quite a few times but I never understood that they even use that as a marketing tool over here in the Netherlands considering every cab is a Mercedes anyway. My uber 'cab' has never been nicer then any other average Dutch cab.

cabs in nyc are shitty fords i think. The fleet in NYC is much better than the fords. They use lincoln town cars & for SUV's use Escalades or Chevy Tahoes. There's even a Bentley in the fleet..

well you have to pay extra for the limo service over the general cab. I was wondering are these uber or lyft things sketchy at all?

uber seems legit and professional

lyft is just some dude picking you up in his car. it's cool though because he put a mustache on the front. seems sketchier to me but apparently it works out for most people

Its a dude you found through a service picking you up and taking you somewhere. sounds an awful lot like a cab, huh?

it's not much more expensive than a cab unless you take the SUV. & no it's actually not sketchy at all. A dude in a suit comes & picks you up & opens the door for you & everything too. It's actually very professional & much cleaner than a cab. Usually there's bottled water for you in the car too.
