This is another thread about ski patrol abusing their power instead of helping people.
The other day i was skiing down the main run at my home mountain and i got yelled at to stop by a patrolman, the run was very icy and i yelled back that i was trying to stop. When i got down to the bottom of the chair he started talking to me about being out of control and going way to fast. I politely told him that i was trying to slow down but it became difficult because of how icy the run was and that i was snow plowing the whole time. I was with my friends and they were doing the same thing i was, but i just happened to be in front. He told me that i needed to learn how to ski if i cant stop on ice (WTF, no one can stop on ice) and that i needed to slow down for the people around me, now I'm not saying thats wrong and i get that they are beginners but they were standing and sitting there. In my opinion he should have been trying to get them to go down the hill ( he was also standing in one spot when i went by). He talked to me for about 5 minutes before finally letting me on the chair. After i got off i skied down part of the run and then stopped to tell my friends what happened. He gets off the chair and skis over to me to tell me that he is going to clip my pass. I told him that i hadn't done anything wrong and that clipping my pass wont reinforce anything. He told me that it was so when i get stopped again (first time getting stop BTW) the ski patrol will know that i have already been warned and will take my pass. I found out later that he was a volunteer patrol man. What do you guys think about this, do you think he was just abusing his power or was it the right thing to do. He didn't take my pass, just clipped a corner off. I don't mind ski patrol usually when they say slow down here and there but when they do things like this and make accusations about me that i cant ski even though i have probably skied longer than he has it makes me hate them even more. End Rant
