Im in a situation

So today i got to sun valley. I could only bring one pair of skis, so i brought my anthems (my pure park skis) because i was planning on doing mostly park and some all mountain. Long story short the park is pretty weak because of the lack of snow. However the snow is way to firm and i can not hold any of an edge. So what should i do? should i get a tune then detune after this trip, should i stick it out and just do park the whole time? should i pony up the money to rent? (about 40 bucks a day) NS what should i do!?

If i was in your situation it would depend on the skis they have for renting, and the price difference between renting and getting the edges sharpened. If they have good skis for rent and the price is about the same as getting your anthems sharpened, then rent. Otherwise, just get your anthems edged.

an edging is like 30$ but how long would that last?

But if the edges are heavily detuned it would be really hard to tune them again. It's not worth it imho.

And the Anthem may not hold an edge on a hard snow just because it's a very soft ski. It won't probably get much better with sharp edges.

Yeah if they have been used on rails allot you will need a base grind as well as a sharpen as you will not be able to sharpen a round edge without grinding down. But like was said an anthem won't really carve well on ice anyway.

I would rent. Look at it as a way of testing some new skis. You may find something you really like.

I know it sounds nerdy, but go rent a hardcore carver from the demo shop. They will probably blow your mind after skiing on anthems for years.

its 45 bucks a day
However i kinda solved the problem
im skiing on on3p jmos but they are 186 cm and im 5'10 130...

1. stop being such a bitch about it and just ski
2. not bring exclusively park skis on a ski vacation to a mountain you've either never been to before or don't visit very often. What kind of person goes to an unfamiliar mountain just to hole up in the park for a few days and not even attempt to explore what else the mountain has to offer?
