Santiago is the shit. I stayed at Valle Nevado but it's a pretty tame area. I would recommend La Parva, all the mountains are connected you just have to buy access to each area. Don't expect UT/WY steeps with cliffs. It's going to be wide open bowls.
There are no trees on the mountains so they sometimes close when the clouds roll in, you literally cannot see shit. I fell over standing still, complete vertigo.
If you take public transportation up to the mountains prepare for some asshole puckering. The bus drivers do not fuck around and haul ass up a tight winding road.
