I feel as though the rating system is kinda fucked up, especially for photos.
I think that a downvote carries an incredibly large amount of power as opposed to an upvote. I mean, for POTD, it's prime real estate and it's totally decided by votes. It fucking sucks for the producers who get well over 100 upvotes on their media and 2 downvotes, because then the guy with 40 upvotes and no downvotes gets photo of the day. It just seems to me that there are a bunch of jealous assholes who see something and would rather their media get more exposure so they downvote a picture, and it works! I'm just calling for a potential reconsideration of how the system works. Maybe some sort of voting system that didn't place so much weight on the first, say, three or five downvotes and it would consider them an "anomaly" in a sense. Maybe a ratio for this anomaly, like 30:1?
I'm not sure. I feel like this might come across as whiny complaining sort of "my media isn't at the top" shit, but it's worth bringing to light.
