A buddy and I got on the gondola at Snowmass in our park attire and were asked by an older couple, "You are obviously snowboarders, why are you skiing?" It took us a solid 5 minutes to come up with an answer that didn't involve the word "retarded.." These two had no idea that skiers were even allowed in the park

How big was that jump you sevened? If you have the air time to complete a 7, and you overheard someone commenting on it being a seven mid-way, you need to have hella air time man. I call bs. The money booter at x games is 85 feet and the air time on it is roughly 2.75 seconds. Theres no way that conversation couldve been had in that timd. Try again

Well aren't you a nice considerate person. So you would rather potentially injure someone who may not be too confident on there skis then just politely say which way your planning on getting off. It really is people like you that give ns skiers a bad name.

Agreed, I actually ask which way people are going off the lift all the time if I am on the wrong side for where I want to go.

If there is even the possibility a person could be injured simply by getting off the lift, than they clearly aren't competent enough of a skier to be riding the lift to begin with. ive never asked someone which way they're turning because it doesn't matter. I'm going the way i want regardless of which direction theyd like to go.

Idk what to tell you man it happened on a roughly 60 footer stepdown and I heard them say it. This wasnt a slow conversation either, they just kind of blurted it out and i heard, but trying to disprove me is pointless and I dont see the point to it. Im just trying to contribute to this thread man

You don't need to change which way you're getting off, you're supposed to either slow down or get off the lift early so you can cross in-front/behind them in a considerate manner. this results in less collisions that can stop the lift and piss everyone off, or help to avoid having a gapper's pole fly into your ass. They would not be injuring them self it would be you surprising them or simply skiing into them when they don't expect it. All you need to do is say which way your going it only takes a second and don't worry it dosnt make you any less of a thug.

this is something that I saw. (and laughed for half an hour) me and my friend were hitting a forest trail. we stopped at a big drop. some little tourist kid came wizzing down the trail and got destroyed by a tree right next to my friend. we asked him if he was alright, he didn't say anything back and so we left...

I was on the lift with my mom for some in house training (we both work at the mountain) and the asshat who sat next to her tried to turn right in front of her getting off the lift. He got his boot caught on hers and pushed her over which made her completely tear her acl along with everything else in her knee when he continued to try to yank his boot off hers. Yes dickholes like you do cause injury to people who are very good at skiing.

And the stupidest thing I've been asked was why we are trying to confuse paying customers with colors and shapes on signs instead of saying how easy or hard a trail is. She claimed to have skied all over the world and that no one else uses such stupid signs. This was while I was helping in rentals one morning and then she chewed me out for rolling my eyes and subsequently sassing her.

Not on the mountain, but someone at my school literally asked me if i was going to do any helicopters this year at our mountain. After all this time i thought it was just people making those stories up just to say something interesting on gaper forums

Plot twist: I was the gaper. When I first started skiing I remember going up the lift with this chubby little old man. I asked him where he had been going and he started naming runs. He asked me and I said here and there a couple of blacks(gaper I know) he responded, oh yeah I have trouble finding enough double blacks. I wish I could've seen my face because I thought this man was nuts. He chuckled and skied off.

I also had a Jersey dad bitch me out while fitting his kid for boots. I was confused as to why I was putting size 9 boots on a 6 year old, turns out the little dude was wearing 5 pairs of socks. No, it will not keep him warmer, no wonder his feet hurt.

I had a Smokey the Bear t shirt on in the lodge which automatically means I work for the forest service I guess. If I hear "what are you going to do about the beetles/ piles" again I'm going to jump off a lift.

Once I was sitting on a bench next to the rental room (I was waiting for a friend to get some skis and boots) and this guy comes in with his son who kept complaining about his feet hurting. The dad seemed pretty annoyed and told his son to stop whining and continued to help the kid take his ski boots off. The kid had his shoes on while wearing the ski boots but the dad said, "See? There's nothing wrong!". A woman who worked at the rental shop informed the dad that he's supposed to take his shoes off before putting ski boots on. The dad was very embarrassed.

I know that this thread is about stupid questions that were asked, but your comment reminded me of that day.

pussyfooterLong time ago, like when I was 14, I was in sun valley for a mogul contest and was doing a halfpipe contest for fun basically and some gapers on the lift asked me about it and when I said i was doing a half pipe contest they said "Oh you snowboard too??" and I was like "uh no skiers go in the half pipe too" and they were like "what NO WAY i had no idea" it was like 2005 but still...
