Holy shit this movie was fucking wild. In a world where CGI explosions and terrible plots/acting are (unfortunately) taking over in movies, it's always refreshing to see a movie like this come out and restore a little faith in this world. Seeing this and American Hustle over the last few days has made me stoked on movies again.

I forgot how good DiCaprio and Scorsese are, Jonah Hill usually annoys the shit out of me but he actually didn't in this movie, and the overall insanity of this dude's lifestyle is beyond comprehension.

Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

Also, I heard there is a Netflix documentary on Jordan Belfort that is supposedly pretty rad and the book is even crazier. Gotta check those out..

it was tasteless because they spent the whole movie trying to shock the audience rather than try and grow any of the characters or the storyline. Every single character in the movie was static and because of that impossible to connect with.

I am not a pussified liberal either, i just dont see how showing him having sex and doing coke for 3 hours makes a good movie.

Shila Laboof is a horrendous actor and no match for DeCaprio. Wallstreet money never sleeps wasn’t even that good.

Eat shit dick. DeCaprio should of gotten an oscar.

fucking finally got round to seeing this the other day. such a brilliant movie, its insane how over the top belforts lifestyle was. anyone bitching about the length needs to shut up and expand your attention span, literally every scene was relevant, there's no way it could have been shorter. its also worth seeing purely for Margot Robbie with no clothes on. hot. fucking. damn.

In terms of sheer entertainment, this is my favorite movie of all time.

I was on the edge of my seat for three hours. I look forward to buying this movie - and I haven't bought a movie in YEARS.

So you know how the story was based on actual events?

My buddy was visiting his friend back East and went to a party at some house in New York, guess who was there? Not the wolf himself, but his daughter that he attempted to kidnap in the end of the movie. Apparently she's an absolute savage party animal and a complete smokeshow…who would've guessed it ran in the family?

One of my good friends went to college with one of Jordan's daughters. He was a couple years younger than him but said the same thing. Was pretty hot and was an absolute party animal. Also was a prettye xpensive private school and by what my friend tells me, they arent short on money at all.

read the book first which was nuts. the movie was good but they changed so many things around from the book all i was doing the whole time was picking those out, made it a little harder to enjoy

most drugs ive ever seen done in a movie besides fear and loathing, like leo gets next level shitcanned in one scene.

overall, it was a pretty good movie. i liked it. 8/10 for sure.

finally downloaded and watched last night. good flick for sure. reminded me of the movie Boiler Room (2000)...which ironically enough is loosely based on the Belfort story.

haha that bits brilliant. my friend got a bunch of ludes off a south african guy he met randomly when we were on a ski trip and he took 4 in one go, having already been drinking. i've never seen a man in such a state as he was.

just imagine waking up after a big night and realising you'd done that to a car like that. i don't think devastated even comes close haha

when you have that much money, i don't think you care

met a kid who totalled his first car (2012 bentley continental GT) a month after he got it, at 18. parents bought him a jag XF a few months later as a replacement, they scolded him but didn't care.

Pretty disappointed.

There were good scenes. Like when he walks in and sells at the penny stock place the first time and the opening scene with mcconehay. But overall, a lot of it was over the top And uncomfortable. I understand the point was to show modern financial gluttony and how sick we've become, but towards the end I felt like I was just watching it to watch it.

It was alright I guess but all of you kids saying how this "restored your faith in cinema" need to go take a film studies class or something. It was different and interesting, but hardly the coolest thing since sliced bread.

similar story a kid at my high school got a gtr as his first car, totalled it trying to drift around a large round about. month later he got a v10 r8, by 'promising' his parents he would drive safely haha

Its a pretty telling social dialogue about the current state of the financial world and how capitalism has gone off the deep end. His life happens to be a perfect allegory to do so.


I doubt they said, "this dude got fucked up and spent a ton of money, might as well film it"
