Testing waters on soloman xmax130

i am fully aware that this is a freeride website and that these boots a a race boot(more or less) i am not really trying to sell them i just am trying to find out how much the could go for after 1 day of use.

this is for a friend who got terrible advice from a boot fitter and was screwed over i just want to figue this out.

how much would they go for?
is anyone looking for a stiff pair of boots for big mountain skiing?
if so would you like to buy them?

This isn't a race boot- just a narrow boot with a semi-stiff flex. Works for any type of alpine skiing provided it fits you. If this boot does not fit your friend, he should take them back to the shop where he bought them. If they only have one day of use on them, there should be some kind of exchange policy or boot-fit guarantee on them.

If you really want to sell them, put them in the Sell and Trade forum, not Gear Talk. You can't make the price too close to the in-store price. The most you should ask for is 50% off what you paid for them since you cannot offer a warranty or a boot-fit guarantee.

Exactly what onenerdy said. It's certainly not a race boot it's just a semi stiff boot which features a full custom shell so can fit narrow to mid width feet. You can even get soft boot boards for them so there is no reason it could not be a park boot.

What problems is your friend having? It's a really easy boot to fit so unless he has extremely wide feet there should not be many fit issues. Is he worried tey are too stiff? The flex is adjustable down to 120 or even lower with a shell mod. Let me know his issues and maybe we can advise solutions.

Or yeah if he really does not want them take them back to where they were fitted and see if they will work on the boots or even exchange them.

thanks for the advice guys. K+. he is not a park skier. just skis all mtn an backcountry. he is a big fan of very flexy boots. he isnt a young guy and his favorite boots ever were Richles. he does not want full tilts tho so dont even suggest them. he is afraid that these are way too stiff and even with the shell mod h thinks they will be too stiff. we are going to try and get them switched out at the boot fitter. that being said do you guys have any suggestions for a flexierboot?

Well if the shell works just go Xmax 100 or 120. The 130 can be 130 or 120. The 120 is 120 or 110 and the 100 can be 100 or 110. The 130 really is pretty soft for a 130 though it's certainly no race boot but take the top bolt out and the 120 flex should be good unless he is a very small guy. Are there any other issues other then flex?

Those boots will be trashed in 1 year of skiing if you have to do any walking on hard surfaces, gravel, ect. Unlike the softer xmax boots, the soles cannot be replaced on the 130.

Getting a standard 3mm lifter installed would at least allow the boot to survive long term. If he wanted longevity and traction, Vibram makes aftermarket grip pads that can be attached to the sole of the boot. Both versions require routering the toe & heel back to DIN specification.

^ prob cost around 200 bucks so about the same as a set of footbeds. But if it prolongs the life if the boots it's money well spent really.

I paid $200 for my xmax 120...just another reason I dont fuck with shops...just their underpaid employees

Good deal but you would still have needed some footbeds so you still need a shop however much you may not like it.

I use some cheap sidas footbeds...cant remember the name. I think I paid $50 for um.

Man you really should get some customs. You will be amazed how much they will improve the fit, comfort and performance. But you would have to use a shop again.
