Maybe they don't have enough money to buy a nicer wide angle?

18mm on that lens isnt THAT bad and is definitely better when on a glide cam, I think kids should save up for glass but sometimes people have a hard time getting money, stop being a douche.

what's wrong with that setup in the first place? That's my goto plus I can't afford any other sorta lenses either haha. A good photographer/videographer can use anything and get a good shot. So quiet down

Why? Follow cams are great in skiing and having a glidecam only makes them look better. Not all shots can be stationary

in this case it's pretty absurd to buy a dslr and be limited to a focal length range of 18-55mm. i don't understand why kids don't get camcorders and have like 3 dslr lenses packed into a parfocal, servo-zoom beast made for shooting high quality video instead of pictures. also included are 1080/60p, portability, and a plethora of features for 16 year olds to cream their pants over if they overcome their ignorance.
oh yeah and it's much cheaper too

I do, in fact use one quite frequently. I'm just saying a solid, quality followcam from a glidecam is almost a staple in videos.

I think image stabilisation is more important in edits than wide angles. 18mm is still pretty wide and you can be quite close but for follow cam if you don't have a steady image it just looks shit.

I don't understand your comment.
I use to laugh at kids and dads with their go pro ticking red while standing in the line but after all, I understand the pleasure of watching your day of ski the day after.
If you can have fun with minimum equipment, I say go for it.

What makes me laugh hard though, are those with at least a 5D (equivalent to nikon) not shooting in manual...
