Thoughts on chiropractors?

i am just wondering what you guys think of chiropractors and if anyone goes to one? i know a lot of chiropractors get a bad rep, but i think that getting chiropractic work is much better than masking symptoms by taking pills from a doctor. i kinda had a bad experience with one chiropractor, i got brainwashed into a 3 time a week schedule for about 3 months and it costs a lot of money, his appointments were very short too and he did minimal adjustments. i went to a new chiropractor recently and he is great, very honest and my overall health has improved greatly after seeing him.overall i think if you have neck or back problems going to a chiropractor is a good option, but you need to find the right one, some are just snake oil salesman selling a fake product and only care about the money.

I hurt my lower back really badly about a year and half ago. Pulled a bunch of muscles etc and was really suffering from it.
After talking to some other people I went to see a female chiropractor who came pretty highly recommended. This woman was not very tall, was very cute (married, damn), and I thought how is this little woman going to contort me and help me.
Well, like a damn spider monkey she climbed all over me, stretching and pulling and prodding me. Hadn't felt that good in a long time.
I went back for three more appointments. And now, I'm pretty much pain free.
The big difference with her was that she helped me really understand what was going on with my body. In my case, since the pull was so low, it heavily involved my hips. She broke down how the mechanisms worked and gave me some stretches and short & long term advice on how to overcome the injury. That last part made a huge difference for me.

My guy is pretty good but I only pay him to adjust one bone, if you know what I mean

that is great to hear, usually the more physical and hands on the chiropractors are, the better their adjustments are. the bad chiropractor that i went to only used the little instrument to adjust my spine and i didn't see any improvement after seeing him a for 3 months. the new chiropractor i see is great, she is also a women and i get a an adjustment about every month or so.

I sprained the right side of my trapezius last year at the batting cages. So we went to the chiropractor and after 4 adjustments i felt brand new. I would go for it, but make sure they are reputable first.

love them. i get more relief from chiropractic than i do from taking pills as it fixes the issue as opposed to masking it. it's too bad that there are some shitty chiros out there that give the rest of them a bad rep.

This is the most important part. Without this you are never going to recover from the injury. She basically gave you PT for yourself and without that you will just keep going to the chiropractor over and over again.
With any injury follow the fucking PT.

I've never been to one. Always gone right to an orthopedist specializing in neck/back injuries instead. would be interested to try out just a routine adjustment appointment if they do such a thing though

I've been seeing a chiro on and off for the last decade. They have helped me bounce back from over two dozen shitty injuries from skiing / hockey / rugby / the army / etc.

Avoid them like the plague.
Get yourself to a crazy Asian witch doctor and be done with it.
