Whats your guys views on tattoos? Do you think there are certain areas that look good with tattoos and areas that dont?

I don't really like tatoos. If there's a good reason to have one like a family thing or military then that's just fine but in general I think they're dumb. I wouldn't judge anyone for having a tattoo though.

Also I think it's funny people have considerations on what they'll look like when they're old and wrinkly….yeah coz without the tattoos you're going to look damn fine! I can't wait to be a wrinkly old granny covered in tattoos ripping around on a rascal giving everyone attitude haha. A heavily tattooed friend i have would reply to the "what about when you're older?" question with "what are you going to do when you look the same as every other old person?" I think it adds character and you'd always want to chat with a 90 yr old heavily tatt'd scallywag! Just a different view…

didn't realise how many haters of tattoos there were on here.

That's a fail in my books. I'm assuming that person is from North America, but they got a Norway maple leaf tattooed on their arm no doubt assuming it was a sugar maple leaf.

Are you this arrogant/dismissive/presumptuous in real life? Really, dude? You don't have a fucking clue who that person is, where they're from, what their lineage/nationality/family background is, OR what the significance is behind the maple leaf for that person. The maple leaf could be purely aesthetic, he could be Norwegian, his family could be from Norway, maybe it has symbolic significance, or maybe he had that kind of tree in his backyard...you have no idea. People from all over the world have all kinds of random ass flora and fauna tattooed on their bodies, do you walk around going, "pfft, there's no lions in the US, what a fucking idiot!"?

So....you just wanted to show off your maple leaf discerning ability? Ok, that's cool, I can dig nerdiness in many forms, but no need whatsoever to condemn it when you have no information whatsoever.

I like tattoos. Everyone should be able to put what they want on their skin. My friend has a really beautiful one that she got after her dad passed away. I also want to get one in someone's memory, which I guess can be kind of cliche but it's meaningful to me. Someone said something about it being just as meaningful if it's not inked in your skin, which is true, but I also like the idea of having a sort of tribute to someone. My best friend died in a car accident last year; he was only 23 and for me, a tattoo would be something special that I'd carry with me forever. As some other people have said, you're getting the tattoo for YOU, not to impress other people.

So I guess my feeling is do what you want - it's your body, your skin; if someone else doesn't like it, then that's their issue.

In my area it's practically becoming obligatory that people get a tat on or around their 18th birthday. Most of them are typical as fuck and boring but some people have good ones. I don't want one on any part of my body that would be regularly exposed and nothing is meaningful enough for me at the moment, but I'm thinking about getting a funny ass tat. It seems almost entirely harmless and my cousin offered to throw down 100 for it.

i think what's the most interesting thing about tattoos, is that so many different types of people wear them. it isn't subjected to one type of subculture, and it's a really old tradition.

My view on tattoos is that if you want one, go ahead and get it. I really don't judge people who have them. Just don't get something cliche, just to say you have a tattoo. Personally, I want to get one of my zodiac sign (scorpio) with the tail forming my first initial, and one of the claws forming my last initial. I want to get one with my dad and older brother, because we've all been talking about getting one recently.

I believe if you get a bunch of tats at a young age and you know it will be frowned upon in your work place/life I.E upper class/white collar job, then you make poor life decisions. Inb4 that pink name posts the only 2 pictures she ever post when we have this conversation. The doctor who looks like he's a skin head and the female lawyer from nyc.

I grew up in a very rich area, worked at country clubs, and have a lot of friends whose parents have white-collar jobs, and although I don't agree with it, tattoos are judged extraordinarily negatively in that line of work.

I don't yet have a tattoo, I've wanted one for a very long time, and have come close a few times. I've had consultations at some shops and never got a good feel so I bailed. For this, I am thankful.

I've seen more examples of terrible tattoos than good recently, and your examples give me hope. I have an idea of what I want done, but will need someone skilled to make it happen.

I have an employee who has a ton of tattoos and is in the process of covering several up. I don't want that.

I love color personally, like Ondrash's work, or nevada johnny. the stuff I personally do not like at all are the hyper-realistic pieces, like nikko hurtado's stuff. I respect the talent and skill behind it, but it just fucking freaks me out. uncanny valley type shit.
