Sledding/tubing stories / Biggest sledding jump you've ever made?

used to work at a snow tubing hill and we had recently purchased an airbag. our boss was the head of terrain parks too so he thought it would be awesome to build a 25 foot kicker to the bag on the tubing hill. needless to say I got a backflip on it. It got taken down after two weeks because our insurance didnt cover that hahaha

haven't gone sledding in a while. I used to be able to do 3's on a plastic toboggan, shit was always sketchy. I also have a vague memory of sliding a picnic table to switch at my towns sledding hill where snowboarders set shit up a lot.

these things are the shit. so fun to get like 4 or 5 people on them.

when I was 10 my family went to the local sledding hill on Christmas day after a good snowfall. Some older boys had built a huge jump in the middle of the trail by piling all the snow immediately downhill from the hole they had just dug it up from. I was careful to avoid the big jump all morning and stuck to the smaller jumps on the side. Last run of the day (as fate would have it) I thought I was lining up to one of the small jumps, but must have been disoriented or something because I somehow ended up sending it straight at the money booter on a plastic saucer. I hit the jump and exploded right away, separating from the sled and flailing wildly through the air while the saucer landed on its edge and started rolling downhill standing on its side. I landed with my back directly on the saucer, hyper-extending my spine backwards. I start screaming in pain, because it hurt, and so my Uncle Jon desides to Superman it down after me to make sure I was okay. Uncle Jon hit the jump by accident as well, but since he was on a tube and weighed 180 pounds, he basically trampolined about 25 feet in the air (approximately). He landed about 2 feet from where I was lying and he broke his arm on impact. He had the pleasure of spending the rest of Christmas in the hospital.

Hmm When it snows a lot in Syracuse I usually make pretty big jumps. My biggest I'd say would have to be around 3.5-4ft high 10ft long and around 4ft wide. It was pretty fun, although due to the lack of speed, the most you could ever spin off of it was a 540 :(

I know someone who hot waxed one of those things and it fucking flew. It was terrifying.
