What are some things you haven't seen at the hill in a few years? I can't remember the last time I saw someone in the terrain park with those bent racing poles. The bandana out the back pocket has been absent for years.

he was at the orage masters last year and all over the freestyle.ch coverage

things i do miss that aren't here anymore:

- beavertails at the mountain. Like seriously what people just stopped liking beavertails? Doubt it

- drops based on respect. You used to wait for the best person to drop and then it slowly widdled down until you were left to fall on your 180 attempt. No one in the park now seems to give a shit

- Plehouse.

- the original lines with the tips that were like 10cm off the ground. Those things shot the biggest rooster tails you've ever seen. Select pairs were also virtually indestructible. Also skogen sprangs - best graphic ever on a ski

things I don't miss

- freeski colonies. That site was horrible. It would never have created the web based community NS has. Big ups to NS

- flat landings. seems most places have figured it out by now

- foam core park skis. such a terrible idea

People who shred moguls. The past 10 years, I have yet to see someone ride moguls like a world cup athlete...or very close. All I see it backseat skiing and snowplow in moguls.

Rear entry boots. Seriously, props to the tourists for finally ditching them.

People who ski with their child in a backpack. It was a common practice in Quebec 5 years ago.

Skiers who ride with expensive goggles on their heads while sporting cheap sun glasses. My parents still do it, but I havent shared a ride with them in a long time.

One piece ski suits...in fact a kid with one on passed me a few days ago on the hill. But its been a while.

Drew rags. "Gotta wipe off yo dew". I saw many imitations such as goggle cases and t-shirts.

Plehouse movies. Some of the best stuff to get stoked on skiing when you arent too good.

mute grabs in small spins. really, besides in comps mute grabs have seriously declined. now everyone does blunts, safeties and japans as their go to grabs, but i haven't seen a regular cork 5 mute or backflip mute in a long time. also, looking over one shoulder when hitting a jump switch, then spinning the opposite way.

good try. skateboarding term coined by steve caballero (caballerial)

if a skier says "cab" they almost always mean backwards. same with "switch," although both are technically wrong if you use the real definitions of those words, but no one really cares. i say switch, even though the word that should be used is fakie... cab and switch refer to direction of travel AND how the rider is standing. as skiers and boarders are bolted to their gear, our stances dont change, just direction of travel. oh man i hope i just started an argument with someone

No skis today make rooster tails like they did 10 years ago. My 1260's shot a rooster tail so damn high and long it was incredible. No because of early taper and all that the rooster tail does not fly high.

Def have to reiterate about plehouse. They made the best ski films every year. Nothing got me as stoked to ski as redtape, whiteshine, and skimatic.

And to whoever said dash longe...hasnt he just been in tgr movies recently?

The think i havent seen recently and thing i miss the most is knowing that anyone with twins was a park skier. You could go up to anyone and be like,"yo, are those vinny d pros?" And then youd schred the park together for the rest of the day learning 180s 360s and shit. Anyone with twins was a serious park skier and down t chill. Now theres just too many people and too many skis for this. It was kinda cool while it lasted.

It's funny that back in the day, everyone couldn't wait for a huge population of freeskiers on the mountain and now that every little hill has a ton of people on twins, it seems that's cursed by the people who were pining for that for years.

Come to the midwest (specifically hyland) and all you'll see is mute 3s, 5s, and 7s. I don't understand backflip mutes though, I imagine they're extremely hard, and i feel like a backflip looks better without a grab.

Remember when everyone...everyone...had a dialed rodeo 5 late shifty? Used to see that trick as everyone's go to "style" trick. Now it's the tweak safety or lead uncrossed blunt 180's, or lazyboy 180's. Basically 180s.

Urban rails with lips built so that they're pretty much ride on. Rails setup to be hit on the "outside", or from alongside the steps.

Slope courses used to have one small "setup jump" and they also used to mix in a rail/jib feature much lower, and breakup the jump line. Now, you almost never see a jib after the first jump. Maybe as the last feature, but never in between two jumps.

How about sketchy, hand-shaped 12ft pipes? I honestly think if resorts built small half pipes that weren't ice walls of death that are basically only built if there's a chance of hosting a major comp or attracting "training" athletes, you'd see a lot more pipe style and "progression" in terms of creativity. I know they're a huge effort and cost to maintain, and I guess that's why you never see them.

There's a lot less "novelty" features in parks these days I feel like. It used to be mandatory to have like a school bus, or some kind of car, or just something visually unique that people kind of never knew what to do with.

Really tall, really skinny rollercoaster rails. They used to be everywhere.
