Snoqualmie isn't open and rain is in the forecast as far as I can see. All the other resorts in Washington are having shitty starts to the season. Anyone else's home resort still not open?
northern rockies are the only place in N America(worth skiing) that have been having a decent year.
Colorado is around average.
EVERYWHERE else is varying shades of shit.
Its actually laughable hearing snow starved TGR posts about how "its kinda a little fun trying to pick your way through all the exposed rocks, dirt, branches, and stumps and billygoating around" or "anyone care to part with a pair of dynastar XXLs to be used for...'destructive recreation' haha". And all this is from one of the biggest snow meccas going.
Oh well, going up to kwood for my first day on Wednesday(last day my pass isnt blacked for the the year), and plan to rip mellow groomers, dial butters, and just start to get my ski legs back again.
Its pretty shitty in europe too, france and switzerand havent had more than 5cm dumps in almost a month...80cm base but fucking rocks are every where, at least the park is big this year
Seriously.. so depressing... i wanted to do new years at skibowl this year but they're probably not even going to be open unless we get a miracle snowstorm.
West Kootenays are doing pretty good (especially the Monashee's around Revelstoke) so far. You guys probably just consider us part of the "northern rockies" though - even though the "Canadian Rockies" are a 3 hour drive and two mountain ranges east of Revelstoke. We have almost a 2M base where I've been skiing in the Monashee's with minimal rocks and knee deep blower.
I feel your pain about snoqualmie, I really do. But really you should embrace other mountains in washington and suck it up. There was pow at Stevens yesterday on top of a fucking dialed park. It's gonna rain at snoquampton, get over it.
Well Wolf Creek has had the most snowfall out of anywhere in North America this year. Taos and Crested butte are opening terrain much earlier than average and Purgatory and Monarch are both 100% open, so I'd say its been pretty good in the southern Rockies.
This. 2 season's back was by far the worst snowfall I have ever seen. This year has been fantastic for my area, so much snow in the city by this point!
My area just got hit with a massive ice storm...Turn all the slopes into skating rinks...Oh ya and the storm knocked out all the power so the lifts don't even work!!
